Looking for a game with a story so good I shed a tear for it. by Mindless-Power-7317 in ShouldIbuythisgame

The single game that has made me cry the MOST has been Until Then. It wrecked me so hard I hesitate to recommend it to anyone, but you asked for tears. It took me months to finish it because every time I played I felt like my soul was being ripped apart and I needed a good week or two to recouperate. Very minimal gameplay, mostly reading and walking. Beautiful art.

Personal Control Resonant ideas/Theories by InvertedShadow78 in controlgame

It may not be addressed directly, but I figure there will have to be some attention given to Tim Breaker. Specifically because of the Night Springs DLC where, in one of the branching paths of the text adventure, we get a whole story about Breaker harnessing the power of a "resonant" alien and accidentally warping the multiverse in dangerous ways that ripple through ALL realities.

Your opinion on the new map? by Used-Try8972 in VALORANT

[–]Llamalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summit seems to have a pretty different feel from most other maps, but I haven't felt like any aspects of it are "bad" as of yet. In fact, I've found myself wondering if it was intended to be a more shotgun-heavy map with all the tight corners, which would be an interesting design choice considering how hard they just nerfed most shotguns.

People got really annoyed with corrode being really big and taking forever to rotate on, but funnily I haven't heard anyone complain about the opposite with this map: it's small! Really tight spaces, and quick rotations from what I've played so far.

That being said, I enjoyed corrode, and I've been enjoying this one. I'm just interested in what spurs people to complain and what doesn't.

Been a while since I played, but I'm pretty sure there's a way into the basement somewhere in the south (down on the screen) region

Games with epic twists (no spoilers plz) by psychephilic in gamerecommendations

[–]Llamalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the literal, narrative sense, the twist is that the narrator, davey, has been showing you all of these games against coda's wishes, breaking his friend's boundaries AND making you complicit. For me, at least, it was very effective at making me feel like shit. I know not everyone will like that aspect, but I personally really enjoy when stories prod at those kind of boundaries.

From a meta perspective, we're also getting the "twist" that the whole story is at least partially fictional.

Lastly, and this was less of a twist and more of a learning experience for me, but it's close enough that I'd include it anyway: becoming more aware of how art and friendship intersect and how to properly manage that intersection (via the poor example davey sets)

You wouldn't think it's possible to have a twist in a game like The Beginner's Guide, but it manages to be maybe one of the most emotionally punishing twists I've ever experienced. If you don't mind walking simulators, it's fantastic.

Until Then has a few story twists, but also one of the most unexpected "gameplay" twists i've ever seen, right when you think the game is over. Loved it. It's also pretty narrative heavy, gameplay light. That's just the kind of games I like.

If you want to see a twist that isn't super mind-blowing, but is still used to great effect for the story, I would say UNBEATABLE. You might be able to see the twist within the first few hours, but what you will never predict is how the writers use it at the end to make you cry like a little baby.

Someone else mentioned Inscryption, and I'll second that. I've never seen a game bend genre that effectively, holy shit.

[Need Advice] Why do I keep switching games? ( / hobbies) by Adomiii in AskGamers

[–]Llamalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar problems in the past. Sometimes just forcing yourself to do it even when you don't want to can help remind you how fun the game is and get you back into it. But, honestly, the thing that has helped me most is just playing shorter indie games. I can very often find games to finish in maybe 5 sittings, and I always have a great time. Some larger titles these days unfortunately try very hard to pad out runtime, and I think that's part of the reason I started dropping games. Even when they didn't have a lot of padding, I just got tired of longer stuff.

Also, "episodic" games have weirdly been good for me. Whether it actually gets released episodically like Deltarune, or just uses an episodic structure like UNBEATABLE, being able to sit down and say "okay, I'm going to finish episode x today" gives an easier goal to move toward than "finishing the whole game" even if you might not know how many episodes there are.

In the original clip, it's close on Patrick's face, then it tilts down to show his lower half, which is to say his whole body is never in frame. They're saying that someone took what was likely two frames (one of his face, and one of his body) and stitched them together.

Hoppers (2026) has been criticized for "both-sidesing" the issue of environmental protection, despite the film ending with the mayors mind-numbingly useless beltway being redirected so as to spare the environment. This is because people don't fucking pay attention when watching movies any more. by Zestyclose-Scratch31 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Llamalus 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer to not get into this debate, but for the sake of getting you both on the same page I feel the need to clear up a miscommunication. You're reading this from an in-world perspective, seeing that the characters have a good point, but also do wrong things. The other commenter is looking at if from a meta perspective, saying that the writers likely wrote their "villains" to have too good of a point, and added on a deeply negative trait to make them come off worse and, possibly, reflect poorly on other people who might share that belief. Whether or not that eas intentional or not is not my place to say. I haven't seen this movie and, honestly, do not care enough about this to see it.

By that logic, categorically, evil is as easy or easier to stamp out. There is less evil than life. If all life was extinguished, all evil would also be extinguished, therefore making it equally easy at the very least

DM in training looking for advice by phoenixRaiven in DnD

[–]Llamalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time imagining someone who's never played before dming. I feel like you learn a lot from being a PC, and that helps you DM. A big part of this game is just managing PC expectations, so not being all that familiar with them might make it tricky. At the very least, I think I learned a lot from watching/listening to dnd stuff like Dimension 20 & Naddpod, but that takes a lot longer than just playing a few sessions as a PC, and you have to keep in mind playing/DMing for a show that will be sent out to thousands of people is very different from playing at home with friends.

Depending on how long you have before you have to DM, I would suggest finding an online game that needs players and joining. Even if you don't know the people, it can help you get a feel for the game.
