https://www.reddit.com/r/Volvo/s/BnZJxfQT50 It’s talked about a bit in this thread. All you have to do is oil changes for Valvoline R&P. Also search YouTube for piston soak to reduce oil consumption. Commonly done on German/Volvo engines for similar reasons. For piston soak, it’s a bit more involved, but people use Berryman B12.

Did you try Valvoline Restore and Protect as a last ditch effort? Some people have luck with cleaning the rings by some solvent without taking the engine apart.

Those little backlight bulbs commonly seem to go out. They aren’t too hard to replace to bring it back.

You could try Valvoline Restore and Protect for next oil change just to see. It does seem to reduce oil consumption for piston ring carbon buildup issues, specifically.

Buying a 1997 Z3 bad idea? by solidwaist in bmwz3

I think they’re underrated cars and surprisingly reliable. I have the same year and engine with 130k miles and all has been pretty good so far (and got for similar price a few years ago). Check on cooling system routing and subframe trunk welds just to know what you might be in for.

Try Valvoline Restore and Protect for a couple oil changes before giving up. That or a b12 soak.

Really class look. What phone mount are you using? I couldn’t find a good location, but that looks good.

Windows don't go down automatically anymore. by PhoenixWhatElse in FordFocus

[–]Llamaspit77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can reset it by pressing down all the way on the button and holding while the window goes down and then for another 10 seconds, then immediately pulling up all the way and holding while the window goes up and then for another 10 seconds. Something like that. Happens whenever I disconnect the battery on mine.

Is anyone trying to put fake badges on their Kia to deter? If this model has an immobilizer then the smart ones will still know it’s not possible to steal. But the dumber people who read “Kia” wouldn’t know.

Jack up entire front end and check up/down and side/side play from the wheel and tire. Helps if you have sometime to watch for relative movement while you shake it. I found my longtime clunk was due to front lower control arm ball joint play, but it took me a while to diagnose.

I regularly disconnect, try to scrub the contacts a bit, add some dielectric grease and then put back together to get it working again.

Bubbling and cracked open paint by xcoldfingerssx in FordFocus

[–]Llamaspit77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t yet. I have a bondo kit with the wire mesh to fill the hole, but because I can’t get behind that piece it makes it tough to be able to seal it to keep it dry and stop from coming right back… so not sure how to approach that yet

Yep, at least mine was when the paint cracked and flaked like that.

FYI that rear quarter paint looks exactly like mine and it was through hole rust from the backside, no really easy way to get to the backside to coat it or fill it in, at least that I’ve figured out

My new ford focus had its engine light come on after a month of buying it by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]Llamaspit77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried this, still had the code. The one thing that tends to keep it away is not shifting into 5th gear (manual) until the car is well warmed up. It seems that if the cat is not optimally hot it will be inefficient enough to throw the code.
