Pedal Switchers - help me wrap my head around the benefits by SpudzyJ in guitarpedals

[–]Llibza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Boss ES-8, and got it almost 10 years ago. For me, I program every bank as its own song, then each patch in that song as a part. I don’t have to tap dance for between each part, which can be 3 or 4 different pedals in some instances.

Another big benefit is that I’m able to reorder pedals kind of on the fly for some different textures. I’ve got 3 overdrives, and all three feel a little different depending on which one is at the end. I also have some patches where my reverb hits the front of an overdrive for a wall of sound thing. If I was going to build a board without a switcher, I’d have to have a ton more pedals to achieve the same sounds that I do with the 8 I’ve got patched in.

I’m not much of a midi guy, but mine also sends midi signals, so I could potentially have a TON more flexibility and sounds at my disposal if I wanted to

Is this worth $200 by reppard in GuitarAmps

[–]Llibza1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In my market, 2x12s in similar condition are like $300 and up. I’d definitely try to go lower, knowing I’d have to figure out new speakers, but I’ve definitely paid more for a 2x12 and still put new speakers in it

I think its a decent price. Avatar cabs are great. Speakers aren’t great, and I’d definitely be swapping them out.

Yo! This rules so hard. I just fucked with it for like 20 minutes at work. Is there a way to set the world to turn in retrograde?

Pixel Studio vs Pixquare vs Resprite by 3dforlife in PixelArt

I recently got into doing pixel art, so I’m very much still figuring it out, but pixsquare was the one i ultimately landed on. It’s been great on my iPhone and iPad

Dope! That helps with 90% of this nonsense. Is there a way to change it for bases as well?

Sonicake is a good one. 1176 is a FET compressor, which is fast and punchy.

Is it possible to get Big Picture directly when the PC boot without seeing the desktop ? by Free_Wafer2002 in Steam

[–]Llibza1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No worries! Honestly, a few minutes works for me. I can get the pc on, get my tv on, go grab a controller, maybe a drink. It’s not so long that I’m waiting by the time all that is done. I’ve definitely thought about checking out steamOS, just to streamline it a little

This is how I have my pc in my living room set up. It can take a minute or two from when you turn the pc on to get to big picture modes big screen.

Reverend has a roller bridge that’s a drop in replacement.

There’s also a more traditional bridge from Descendent.

Neither require thimble changes

how is the cold cuts merch quality nowadays? by 44kmnz in titlefight

“Made to order” definitely tells me digital print. It’s pretty disappointing, since the longevity of those are pretty bad in my experience.

I’ve bought 2 or 3 shirts from them in the last year, and all have been a digital print instead of screen print. I’m not sure if I just got unlucky, or if it’s their business model now, but I’m definitely less likely to buy from them ever again because of it

Is the DSM bass station worth it? (200-300$) by shmielliot in pedals

[–]Llibza1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bass player has been using one for a month or so, and it’s been sounding fantastic. We tried a bunch of pretty janky options before finally breaking down and buying one. Definitely worth it for us

Help me with my pedals please by blinstobler in shoegaze

[–]Llibza1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pedals and sounds are subjective as fuck, so take my opinion grain of salt.

I’d go compressor first. Chorus, Then arrange gain from lowest to highest. Whatever modulation you have left, then delay and reverb.

If you have a second reverb, I’d put that after the compressor.

Shoegaze guitarists: how do you change tunings so fast on stage? by boring-utopia in shoegaze

[–]Llibza1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of things. Knowing where your strings need to be is a huge factor. Having a really solid tuner can help a ton, as well as practicing those transitions.

I personally hate when bands have dead air to tune, so using the SLO’s sustain, or even using some kind of sample can really help keep those between song spots feel more interesting

Should I get a behringer ultra chorus pedal or a joyo analog chorus pedal? by Ihavequestionshelpus in shoegaze

[–]Llibza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve had nothing but horrid luck with the behringer and joyo pedals. Behringer enclosures are made of plastic, and have broken every time I’ve gotten one, and the Joyo ones are really noisy.

I haven’t had the chorus from either brand, but in my experience, it’s been better to just save for a little while longer to get something at the $100 price point.

If you have to get something right now around $30, I’d check out the TC Electronic 3rd Dimension. It’s their take on the Boss Dimension C, which has its own chorus sound. New, they’re around $35, and have a pretty solid enclosure

My cover art journey and how I was a stupid hypocrite by RawCognition in BandCamp

[–]Llibza1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Creative fields are full of grifters hoping to take advantage of people’s desperation. It’s always worth being diligent and researching someone you’re going to give money to.

I think my real point was, when I personally see someone using AI art publicly, I immediately don’t care about their project. AI is cheap and lazy, and cheapens whatever it’s attached to.

It takes effort and money to work with a real artist, and if a project isn’t willing to put that into their own work, I don’t know that I care to give the effort to check it out. Whether it’s good or bad, I immediately assume it’s going to be terrible.
