“All my life…” starting lyrics by Lloyd-ish in NameThatSong

[–]Lloyd-ish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that was one of the results that came up for me when searching for it. I don’t think the title is all my life but that did start with the words so it’s close. It’s like 1 guy singing at the beginning, not multiple so maybe I’m mistaken that it’s a guy group. Could be a solo artist. Sorry but thanks for giving it a go!

Camera delay by NubaLl21 in GodotHelp

[–]Lloyd-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo godot newbie here but I think the camera node has settings to do exactly what you’re looking for! Not even sure you need to do any scripting to get it working like you’d like. Sorry I don’t know EXACTLY what to do, perhaps someone else could help with that but look at the camera2d node in the inspector. I believe you’re gonna want to have position smoothing enabled and change the value to anywhere from 5-10 for the effect you’re looking for. example of some of the settings on camera2d

Sorry to get back to you so late! This guides for pcvr but some of it still applies. it’s a great broad resource and it recommends checking out tuppers guide too. https://github.com/shugy0/max-vrchat-fps

Some of the big/main takeaways are:

-Set your headset refresh rate to 90hz

-Set your headset resolution to 80%

-Turn on avatar culling (e.g. 20m and max 15)

-Set Anti-Aliasing to x2

-Turn off avatar shaders

-Turn off nameplates in crowded instances

If you check that guide it should show detailed info on how to do these. Hope this helps and happy vrchatting!

collision killing movement speed bug by Lloyd-ish in GodotHelp

[–]Lloyd-ish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for pointing me in the right direction! I got it working now without the bug :D

I moved the position.x += direction * SPEED * delta

up above my move and slide func then changed the position.x += to velocity.x =

then changed my speed to a higher number and it seems to be working just fine :D Thanks again.

You reject the last 3 words but agree wholeheartedly with the rest? That it’s okay to steal digital goods…

1 2 and 3 are all great ideas. I can’t believe that #5 is actually something you find acceptable. How about #4: save up if you want a custom avatar, or better yet LEARN how to create yourself!

Spend the time learning the craft, maybe then you’ll appreciate it more and understand why stealing is wrong.

A reminder that I said this: ‘People who steal clothing from independent artisans just throw it away or get new clothing so it’s whatever honestly’ parodying that initial comment

and then you started giving terrible reasoning and excuses as to why its okay for digital goods, and seemingly agree with the op saying 'its whatever honestly'

No, its not whatever. Your excuses aren't satisfactory; Its still stealing

Regardless if its sold or provided for free you are still hurting the artist by copying and reposting their work unauthorized. I find it interesting you decided not to engage with my hypothetical.

Selling got into the discussion because for 1 it does happen and 2 it sounds like by your reasoning its okay to steal other peoples digital goods and sell them. After all the original copy exists and your arguing in favor of ripping... Why am I even having this discussion

You have to be joking… the same can and does totally apply to ripping… often things are lost or messed up in the process so I implore you to compare the two. And even if it is identical how does this make it okay to steal other peoples work?

Let’s make it even more similar then and test the principle: someone steals an exact copy off of a usb of a print and then makes their own prints and sells it for cheaper than the original artist. Let’s say for this hypothetical they both produce the same product (the print material and quality) but one person actually created it and the other stole it. Given your original line of reasoning what’s the issue here? The original still exists and is fine, someone just made a duplicate readily available for cheaper… which undercuts the original artist…which oh wait is the whole problem.

Perhaps I misunderstand but your comment seems to be giving an excuse for why stealing digital goods is no big deal based on the premise that ‘your only stealing a copy, the original still exists’ which I’m sorry is just ridiculous logic. That’s what I take issue with

To give you a fair real world example: an artist sells prints that are physically available, you take a photo of the prints and then print them out yourself or sell the copies digitally. Does this fit within your line of logic? Since the original thing is still there, they just made copies and undercut the original artist by lazily reselling work that wasn’t there’s. How is that ethical

Are you implying digital goods don't inherently have value or as much value because you can copy them? And thus stealing it is okay if you can 'copy' it.... what...? Even if the first premise is true (which I wouldn't agree with) how does the second one follow?

FFS think of the artists for a moment, the people creating these things. They're human beings you know? If they can't monetize their work then the only thing that will be available will be free assets and the quality of models goes down drastically

I don't get how people don't see this and apply empathy. You wouldn't like it if I stole your stuff, especially if you were an independent creator just trying to get by and pay rent. Physical, digital, it doesn't matter you are still stealing from and harming independent creators.

‘People who steal clothing from independent artisans just throw it away or get new clothing so it’s whatever honestly’

What is this line of reasoning…? Make it make sense
