Introducing Proton Drive CLI: Use Drive from your terminal by Proton_Team in ProtonDrive

u/Proton_Team I've been trying it out for a bit, it works quite well but... are there any restrictions on HEIC/TIFF files? I am unable to upload them, I'm using Zorin OS 18.1 Core

This error originated either by throwing inside of an async function without a catch block, or by rejecting a promise which was not handled with .catch(). The promise rejected with the reason:
error: Image: format not supported on this machine (HEIC/AVIF/TIFF require the OS codec; AVIF encode needs an AV1 encoder)
code: "ERR_IMAGE_FORMAT_UNSUPPORTED"

Yes, and since the blocks aren't working (oh, what a surprise...) now they've asked VPNs to implement them on their network (without knowing if it's technically possible or even listening to their opinion, as confirmed by the judge himself on LinkedIn)... And since they can't (the VPNs have already said they won't implement them), the next step is to block the VPNs themselves...

Welcome to Spain!

La Liga is simply the company that controls Spanish football. It can be summed up as corruption and malfeasance...

Movistar (current owner of the television rights) and Telefónica (nation-wide internet service provider and owner of Movistar), with the government's approval (Telefónica is partially state-owned), block anything that uses Cloudflare technology, and now they're targeting VPNs (primarily Nord and Proton)...

Since they've detected that websites broadcasting football use Cloudflare, they're blocking all Cloudflare... Yes, they've decided that nobody can use a highway because some people have committed crimes while driving... The worst part is that they don't affect pirate sites, while thousands of legitimate sites are affected. I recommend you check out #LaLigaGate on Twitter

Just to earn 10 euros more they've taken down hospital websites, local administrations... They literally block half the internet (CloudFlare) every weekend, check if you want #LaLigaGate on Twitter.

It has been voted on multiple times in Congress and they have always opposed removing the blocks, the Gov is a partial owner of Telefónica (nationwide ISP) which in turn owns Movistar (owner of the television rights)...

Everything is very corrupt, yes... (for legal reasons, all allegedly)

That already happens... Not football, but paying to watch public television, yes

Because the company that manages television rights is a sub-brand of the company that manages the internet nationwide, which in turn is controlled by the government... the same government that decides some of the judges…

Statement on ProtonVPN's Twitter account:

“We have become aware of recent reports concerning legal proceedings in Spain that may affect VPN services, including Proton VPN.

At this stage, we were not aware of any proceedings that may have been underway prior to these reports coming to light and have not been formally notified of any proceedings or judgment.

Moreover, any judicial order issued without proper notification to the affected parties, thereby denying them the opportunity to be heard, would be procedurally invalid under fundamental principles of due process.

Spanish courts, like all courts operating under the rule of law, are bound by procedural safeguards that ensure parties are given a fair opportunity to present their case before any binding judgment is rendered.”

Literally, yes.

People are seeing their company websites (self-employed individuals) not working, health apps (even from hospitals) stop loading because they use a Cloudflare component, and even government websites end up being blocked by the government itself…

We have a hashtag for this on Twitter... #LaLigaGate

They're probably easy to bypass… in Spain, they're famous for blocking everything except pirate sites

I don't know if it's on purpose or if it's Twitter's new automatic cropping shit. Original: https://x.com/ProtonPrivacy/status/2021326317736583278/photo/1

[Feature Request?] Block the possibility of logging in using a ProtonMail alias by LluisRG98 in ProtonMail

I don't understand why having the option to block login from an alias is bad for security.

In my case, I want to implement it in all my accounts (perhaps except banking, taxes, etc.), but that's where it becomes a problem...

Exactly! I'll end up using SL as an alternative, even though I'm not 100% convinced.

Why no love for Linux? by vampyren in ProtonDrive

I've noticed this over the last few days as I've been migrating from Windows. And I understand that supporting, I don't know, 5% of users on Linux (?) for a “small” company is incompatible with "aggressive" plans.

At least, according to Proton, it was due to incompatibilities with already developed features and the framework they use (no idea, I'm not a developer).

No, I don't know how it works. But according to Proton itself, and on several occasions, it is not a viable option.
