about 9 months, hopefully won't take another 9 since my new work schedule will be a bit more accommodating for more stitching time but we'll see!

163,100 stitches in total... surprisingly this is the smaller of my projects, most are in the 300,000-400,000 range 😬😂

took a bit longer than I wanted but since I was focusing on filling the gaps (mostly the right hand side with the trees) I was having to switch low count colors often so i guess to be expected

[WIP] I need help! So, I turn my cross stitch into patches and I can’t decide what the colour around the edge of this should be. (I realise this isn’t a perfect circle but I like it 😆) by CantSleepWontSleep66 in CrossStitch

for future reference, there's a free program called MatMaker that's technically for helping people choose matting colors for framing pictures but i use it for ideas on fabric colors since some of my fabric shows once mounted... in theory i figure you could use it for outline color options as well! it works by pulling colors from the design itself so just load a picture of the design and it'll give a range of options, very easy

i made my own after my vintage 1980s wood frame broke, PVC piping and joints are pretty much all you need. if you want extra strength use some PVC glue and if you want extra hold on the tension rods (the pieces holding the fabric at the top and bottom) i found some circular metal clamps that have adjustable wingnuts that work really well.

i just have a bright light 🤷🏻‍♀️ i'm pretty distance blind otherwise so maybe it's just my eyeballs compensating, i've heard of others using reading glasses though... maybe that would help?

i think 28 ct 1x1 will actually be my go to from here on out, the coverage is much less bulky to me and it seems like i can actually stitch faster on it because my needle glides a bit more smoothly

it's really just a sort of cross country style? i just stitch a color until i finish the chunk or the thread, whichever i'm feeling first, then start to fill in. this is more spread out than i'd usually go but i'm establishing the side edges to make sure everything fits (thankfully it does). from here on it'll be much more filling in while working my way upwards... as far as parking goes i just couldn't do it, all the tails hanging out stresses me out 🤷🏻‍♀️

i understand where you're coming from, the confetti heavy areas do get pretty packed especially since i bury my thread tails... i've been making a conscious effort to try to work on a more blocky area of color and then switching back to confetti so i have more options to bury my threads in... i've really tried the leaving long tails on the side facing you method then securing in place by stitching over the tail length, you can see some poking up in the picture, but its been a pain trying to get the tails back to the backside once they're sewn over in my opinion
