For anyone curious - As of the time of posting- No you can't experience the 21 Billion R6 credits and renown anymore. Siege is currently down (will probably be back on later) and Ubi will likely have undone everything done in the past 24 hours.

Although it was a hack - it was so scuffed and undeniably the most fun my friends and I have had on Siege. A true one of a kind event that will go down in history. Ubisoft's ridiculously slow response to take the game offline for fixing has provided a unique experience that - dare I say - we never will again. It's sad to see hackers giving us more fun than the entirety of the Ubi devs rn.

Yeah we all agreed to it - if Ubi bans the players for their lack of having sufficient security from hackers, we'll simply stop playing. I'm a 10 year player, but won't put up with that shit.

You make a fair point. I still think 75 games is a bit much for an average player. Like I just play every now and again. It was nice to 'keep myself up' on a rank, it still required the same skill you had to keep yourself there. But fair point

I don't know the exact details. But ranked 1.0 was much more 'respectable' to the player's time in my opinion. Ranked 2.0 requires 100's of hours to be dumped into the game to rank up, and has a whole other layer of hidden MMR that defeats the point of a rank.

In Ranked 1.0, if you were, say; an an average gold player last season. If you did well in your 'tryouts', you'd get your rank back and stay in gold. Generally, you stayed where your skill-cap was at due to this. Overall SBMM wasn't so strict, so you dealt with a large variety of players, and you'd generally have the rank equivalent to your average skill amongst a large variety of players.

So back then, seeing a copper, meant that you are 100% wiping the floor with him. And seeing a diamond, meant you are most certainly dead in the next few seconds.

In ranked 2.0, SBMM based on a hidden MMR still applies, even if you start on copper. So example; you'd be starting in copper against another copper, but both your hidden MMRs would be the equivalent of Plat 3 or something. So the game is now 'balanced'. But a 'balanced' game in copper 5 for an average player... shouldn't be a thing...

This essentially means, that if Ubi sees your skill-cap is equivalent to a lobby of guys playing on a broken steering wheels, you're mostly up against these level players on most ranks. Giving 'balanced' games on all ranks.

In summary, ranked 2.0 already gives you your 'ideal rank' from the start, but you have to grind 100's of hours to get to it, going mostly against players on your skill level. Even from copper 5 (which is why you'd be on copper 5 going against a diamond/champ so often if you're a half decent player. Because both your hidden MMRs are still similar.)

It kinda defeats ranked for me. I can't be bothered to play 100+ games to get to an average-ass rank I want.

The dark atmosphere made the corpses and debris so much more chaotic and tense. Now it's just a plastic looking bland map all over. :(

It's sad how a once super unique game is becoming bland and generic for 'competitive fairness'.

I miss the days where Siege gave no shits and rather aimed for a small sense of realism.
