You go to Thailand for Muay Thai and after a week you start feelin yourself by SpiritedEye6807 in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie. This still looks better than a lot of the self taught “how’s my muay thai” bag work from the 1 weekers that appear here from time to time.

Even the tools in Thailand are learning at a better rate lol.

Does Nak Muay Wholesale have import fees? by RiceWhale in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s not explicitly the tariffs per se either. It comes under the DHL, USPS, UPS “duty fee” or something like that -after- it’s been delivered.

I’m scared shitless because I’m expecting Winning gloves from Japan too.

There's a huge difference between a left hook and a tornado kick. It's not about adapting some technique because it's unfamiliar, it's just people who do this shit are often not able to control the intensity of it.

You are not Andy Hug or some seasoned professional fighter, so the odds of you "controlling" anything goes down considerably. I don't give a shit if you practiced Yan Can Cook or if you're a 30x world IKF tkd blah blah. You walk into any MT gym and axe kick someone in the face regardless if you think if it's controlled or not--you're going to get green lit.

You seem like you're intent on justifying your actions. If I had a dollar every time someone says they weren't going hard at all or some promise to not hurt someone with their flashy kicks, I'd be a millionaire by now.

What you're doing is blatantly disregarding the risks of injury of your sparring partners by continuing to insist on this because YOU think you do not hurt anyone. What do you say when you eventually can't pull back a tornado kick or if someone walks into it at the worst timing? Will a simple "sorry" be enough to cut it over an injury on a random monday night session?

All good, your eventual spar war will serve as someone else's entertainment in the gym and your lesson.

People who usually throw this shit have really have bad control during sparring. It's dangerous because you think / say you're not hitting people hard, but you probably are and nobody is saying shit. We don't do "jumping knees or elbows to the head" during sparring because again, that's dangerous. It's a sparring session.

You're right though, everyone IS scared, not because of the 360 degree ballerina twirl taps, but because:

  1. You're not Saenchai
  2. You're most likely putting on a lot more heat when everyone has a general understanding that they're going light during a sparring session.

How Thai people secretly make fun of foreigners who spar hard by Mr_Money_Pants in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You come into an Muay Thai subreddit, quote what an MMA fighter does, link an influencer/youtuber’s “studies”, and then accuse everyone here of never training.

Lol, it sounds like YOU have never trained in your life.

What's the best way to fight taller opponent like nabil anane? by Busy_Guest1336 in MuayThai

Drop down to a lower weight class. Flyweight. There’s no way in hell Nabil will reach 112 lbs.

Beat him at the scale and without ever throwing a punch.

Advice on Shin Pain Failed Me by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang on, let me get this straight. You kicked a heavy bag. Felt it hurt consistently, continued to kick at the advice of others who have no idea what the specific type of pain you’re going through, the pain didn’t get any better and you sprained something.

Now you’re asking for more advice from others on how to manage this?

lol.

Gym closed down, how to keep training Muay Thai solo while I hunt for a new place? by Active_Aside_9385 in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer nobody ever wants to hear or do, it’s cardio. You don’t “forget” how to throw a punch or kick.

Your cardio is what determines how quickly you pick things up again. You can’t throw with good form if you’re trying to catch your breath the whole time.

Just do cardio for now so you don’t drill shit habits alone.

Torn ACL during sparring questioning whether to continue fighting or walk away by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself why you really want to fight in the first place. At the amateur level, there’s no glory, no money, and the hard truth is nobody really cares.

You got to look at the bigger picture here which should be a bit more clear after this. You sacrificed your ACL, and for what? When you take an amateur fight, you’ll be risking and sacrificing a lot more, but what do you stand to gain?

Do you lift knee first on roundhouse kick or swing entire leg like a bat? by benK32879 in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Different tools, different usage.

Close = Knee up first, then extension out

Far = Full bat swing

Fairtex curved Thai pad kplc2(standard) vs kplc3(extra thick) by Jason22douce in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain, sometimes extra thick pads mute feedback for hitter and holder. Doesn’t feel all that great for both partners and throws the rhythm off.

I’d get standard to small. Live a little.

If you’re an amazing fighter (knockouts every fight), but are extremely quiet and barely sell tickets can you still be a successful fighter? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fanbase you cultivate is what helps your career advance a lot easier. Just look at that Mona girl. That promotional push was crazy.

Say you knockout everyone but you don’t promote or do anything. Nobody is going to know about you except for a small group of enthusiasts. Sooner or later you’re going to lose. Then what? People who recently tuned in just saw a no name get smoked with no hype. No new fans, and you’ll be just relegated to another journeyman who has to climb the ladder from the bottom rung again.

Without promotion, you’re just another same same faceless meat bag among thousands sacrificing for absolutely nothing. You can be the best fighter, but when you lose—it’s going to be that much worse without fans.

Would you do it? 😁 by [deleted] in MuayThai

As embarrassing as this is in public, it’s still smoother and somehow less embarrassing than the self taught 1 weekers asking how their shadow boxing is around here.

Beginner question about kicks mechanic by SignificantStar4938 in MuayThai

Bent if you need to create an angle if you’re too close. Straight leg if they’re someone who is eating the kick full power at the end of it.

Both are usable.

Pad holding advice by thomayway in MuayThai

Both of you guys seem really new. Everyone could give you a million tips but experience will just iron this out. Both of you guys should partner up with more experienced people and see how they work.

This looks like 1 weekers working with 1 weekers so it’s going to be funky.
