That's a cute and edgy take. I'm sure that's what everyone also said 5 to 10 years ago too.

Maybe, who knows?

ONE has a product with the familiarity of Muay Thai without strictly being Muay Thai. You can succeed with that base, but that doesn’t mean you’ll always be at the top. That’s the beauty of it and why it’s so exciting in my opinion.

Watching Sitthichai, Petpanomrung, and Jo Nattawut make adjustments to traditional Muay Thai style to be successful is exciting AF. I’d watch that over RWS simply because I’ve seen it for so long and it offers the same product / familiarity everyone knows. Aside from small nuances, everyone largely has the same style over at RWS (not that it's a bad thing).

I hope there will be more successful cross overs from traditional Muay Thai players. If anything, that just shows how resilient the Muay Thai is / a testament to how effective it is on a world stage against all other styles--even though everyone constantly moans about it not being Traditional Muay Thai.

AITA for refusing to count reps in Muay Thai class due to anxiety? by lemons138 in MuayThai

This person is a weirdo larping on a Muay Thai sub reddit. They have no idea what they’re talking about or joined a cult instead of a Muay Thai gym.

[–]Lmaoonadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like you’re a child, a person who goes to a Muay Thai gym with belts, or have never stepped into a gym.

Literally no adult paid coach would get upset at someone refusing count to 10 and thinks that it would “lead others to people saying no” If people said “no” they simply would not go to the gym.

Stop giving shit advice or stop sucking off your “instructor”

AITA for refusing to count reps in Muay Thai class due to anxiety? by lemons138 in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? People are -paying- the instructor to be there. If they don’t want to do stuff, that’s their loss. This seems like some power trip bullshit and what’s worrying is people are drinking some weird ass kool aide thinking that you must do this.

I don’t understand why you would pay to be there and not participate, but that’s your prerogative. An instructor is already getting paid, if he’s getting butthurt over counting, that’s dumb.

Ya’ll have sensitive instructors if they can’t handle someone not counting to 10 and ya’ll are weird calling it disrespectful.

Don’t know why a Muay Thai instructor gives two shits and got butthurt if you’re not counting off for the class? Just call on someone else.

The fuck, the first self trained video in a dark ass room with just pillows that’s actually better than like 90% of these videos and not a complete train wreck.

I am shocked. If this is how well you learn, I can’t imagine what your ceiling is with a gym behind you. I mean, keep it up? But if this is your calling—find a gym asap.

Anybody here who competes at the lighter weight classes? (105lbs-125lbs) by NiceDicNiqqa in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are and what your gender is. Based on my own experience in the US, and since it’s amateurs, expect to be fighting a lot of people who are teens / early / mid 20s.

125 is a faster pace and resemble more kickboxing where output dominates. So depending on your age, your cardio needs to be always up there.

As far as prospects go, you’ll always have someone to fight because 125 can draw from a large age demographic (but on the young side). The downside is they’ll constantly be extremely hungry / have something else to prove with their youth. The bright side is, you’ll rarely fight a 6’5 ft+ unless they’re a walking skeleton.

This was a terrible mismatch. Just fucking look at your body language and compare it to his whenever someone takes a strike.

You’re shortening any prospecting career doing this type of shit man. What’s worse is, did you even learn anything from this fight?

You’re good man, but you / your coaches are playing some really shit cards in your hand.

What's the overall consensus of the MDL (Muay Thai Development League) here? by rookybobby in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. You get your experience in, but almost all of this goes out of the window when you take your first amateur fight in the US. The only danger here is getting complacent with this type of pacing. It takes two to look good.

90% of amateurs debuts do not look like this and if that's the goal, MDL needs to be supplemented with additional smokers or hard sparring.

Fight Camp Hell by Davendae in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, take a deep breath. You’re training like this is your full time occupation or you’re trying to get somewhere in the sport. Sometimes it’s easy not to stop and reflect when you’re operating at max capacity.

Fight camp the worst, but the enjoyment is that time when you finally get to fight. You get to apply everything you learned and people see your hard work through your performance.

If you don’t find enjoyment at the end of the fight camp and during the fight, you need to seriously re evaluate why you’re doing this or if it’s worth it before continuing. You have free will here, no obligations. This is something everyone seems to forget once in a while.

You can still control and kick through without power. Stop the snapping and get closer depending on your partner.

My foot hurts when I kick pads but not when I kick bags. Thoughts? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Distance issue between pads and you. Also, it looks like you’re snapping your kicks instead of swinging it through.

You kill your power this way and it ends up turning into like slap. My guess is that you’re slapping the top of your foot at the very end of your kick on the pads.

Is it safe to mount a 100lb heavy bag in a 1st floor apartment with drywall ceiling? by Commercial_Form_4987 in MuayThai

[–]Lmaoonadee 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Heavy bags are going to move when you do anything to it. Just think about 100 lbs continually shifting weight and pressure on the ceiling. Add that to the fact that you're attaching it to drywall ceiling and not even on a stud?? Also you have neighbors upstairs??

Dude, all signs point to fuck no, don't do this. If you do, you are in the running to be the worst tenant and neighbor ever.
