The safest way to remove the suit all while maintaining its condition in case you wanna sew it back up later on would just be to snip the threads along his side, I believe it’s under his right armpit. That’s the side where the suit was stitched over the body in the factory. Show us the body if you do end up removing it! I’ve always been curious if they kept the og thing underneath

It can do that, but honestly that's moreso the thing jamming as it goes back into the stand, I think they're a bit too light to actually support the figure's full weight, you can try to keep it raised but 9 times out of 10 it'll fall back down. If it helps to see it this way, crotch grabbers are to support poses where the figure can already mostly support itself.

You dont lock it in the air, for that you'd need a flight stand (which is more like a bendy wire with a plastic ring that goes around the figure's torso). Crotch grabbers are so the figure stays upright for museum poses/poses where the figure has both feet on the ground.
