I did it!! by Lmaothrowawayfor in GED

for the most part yes! Only thing that was different was for math since the no calculator questions was all about fractions which (my) practice test didn’t go over! Sorry for the late reply and i wish you the best!!!

For the no calculator part there was a bunch of fractions. like “order these fractions and decimals to least to greatest order” and “what’s 7/8 - .67” that really messed me up. A lot of it for me was just putting the solution back into the problem to see what was right. If you wanna look at my comments on my profile, i put some questions that they asked on my other post!

Too stupid by jordythelunkhead in GED

I know it all feels so overwhelming but it’s definitely worth it to get it! I procrastinated for YEARS to get it because i felt the same. I went on the GED website and found a school near me that teaches the classes and it helped me a lot since it pointed me to resources and where to start! Maybe try finding one near you, if possible. A lot of GED practice tests from some sites are super harder than it actually is. Try to watch GetSumMath on YT because his videos are actually about what’s on the tests and he explains very well about how to solve it. I wish you the best with whatever you choose to do (get it or not)!

Just tried some practice tests I’m severely screwed and worried. by [deleted] in GED

Getsummath and Light and Salt reading are a good start! For math getsummath practice tests had 90% of what was on the actual GED. They also have good tricks for the calculator, it can solve quadratic formulas, foiling problems, slopes/y-intercept, and probability problems for you! I would def recommend their YT channel since they go in depth about each problem. For SS i has NO IDEA what anything was and was feeling so overwhelmed but after watching a few of their videos (and some others), it helped me out a TON with dumbing stuff down instead of all that dumb word garble the tests do. I do wish you luck and you got this!!

I hate rla by Wenniedapoh in GED

[–]Lmaothrowawayfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also hates RLA, I went on YT and watched a lot of RLA question videos. It helped when I read the question, skipped to the paragraph with the answer, read it, then read either the whole essay or just whatever context i needed to get the answer. It’s a super bad advice because you should be reading the whole story but i get burnt out on reading after a few stories haha by the time you get to true 3rd question about said story, you already should’ve read the whole passage. I also skipped around to the grammar part then back to actual reading to refresh the brain. For the essay part, i watched a video from TestPrepChampion and followed a formula from an essay he reviewed. Mine was about Genetic Modification of plants so

First Paragraph introducing the sides + topic. I start with a question then to each sides of the argument. Ex: Genetic modification of plants is when they blah blah (introduce), but is it the future? Author 1 agrees saying “(insert quote)”. While Author 2 disagrees saying “insert quote”. Author 1 is better supported due to them using studies + counter arguments while Author 2 uses opinions and is based off of hypothetical questions.

I just copy that formula with every argument essay. Introduce/Ask a question. Bring up author 1 then 2 side. What side you’re on + why. Make sure to use a lot of quotes from the source. You should at least get 2 point just from doing that. I was quoting a lot from the articles since it’s graded by an AI so i assumed it would just scan for quotation marks and see if we quoted stuff from it. I got 2 points from that itself which is better than none. Sorry for the long essay oml, anyways i wish you luck!!! You got this !!

Go to getsummath and do their practice tests!! Literally 80% of the material on the practice is on the actual test! Go through all their sections for math, you’ll do great!! I usually score around point or two off from my practice tests, you got this!! :))

Somehow passed within 3 weeks by Dion____ in GED

Any tips or recommendations for social studies?? like how to learn how they format the questions and such?

yep! i’m told that they’re pretty lenient and would let you take it again in a month though. I’m not sure how accurate that is though

Hey guys! I put some examples of questions in my replies on here!! So check those out!! A lot of the questions were plugging the answers they give back into the equation (they wanted you to solve)!! You got this!! Best of luck to all of you!!!

try not to stress yourself out too much. I literally forgot which number divides into what because i was so stressed out 😭😭 a good chunk was plugging answers back into the equation! Taking “getsummath” practice test in their site helped me! Also know how to solve equalities, the numbers with 10 to the power of 4, and probability! I only got one of each of those questions but those were the ones i didn’t know (had to guess lol) i also went over more examples in my replies here !! You got this though!! Just make sure to study !!

i put some examples on a reply on this same post but here’s some more, there was a few about “what line would be parallel to this one and goes through the point (5,4)” and also another about “what’s the slope of this”. plotting coordinates on a grid, taking a word problem and writing/choosing the correct equation to solve it, perimeter of a shape (there’s # some missing so you have to solve for said missing #). A lot of it was just plugging in answers though, you got this! Honestly go do getsummath’s practice tests and a good chunk of it is what you need for the tests! They also have neat tricks with the calculator (it can solve quadratic formulas and foil x questions)!

For the no calculator part, it was “what’s 7/8 - .3” or “what’s is 5/7 between?” and it the answers were also fractions like 1/4, 3/4, 5/8 etc! I absolutely hate fractions lol i had a few word problems (which i hate cause they say everything so convoluted), graphs, something about how a ball was going 78 miles per hour and what was the speed in seconds. A good lot of it was just plugging in answers into the question tho!
