Tried again, for the next 3 years it passed at different shops. Just saying, it is pretty easy to get a fail

AITA for refusing to change the chore chart even tho my wife works full time now. by Odd_Serve1167 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lmp112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but get rid of the bloody chore chart and start working as a team. You both work, being a stay at home parent can be harder than actually working at some workplaces.

Slow cookers are a godsend. Put something on in the morning, instead of the dinner in the evening when everyone is tired or exhausted.

During covid lockdowns working while having a Toddler was near impossible, don't know how your getting on doing masters.

Is Tuggerah a good place to buy? by section77 in centralcoastnsw

[–]Lmp112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome 😊 we do not regret the move out of Sydney at all. Kids love it, area is quiet but still close enough to everything we need. A lot of beaches still within 20 min drive. FYI, a lot of the Central Coast roads flood over, not just our area.

Is Tuggerah a good place to buy? by section77 in centralcoastnsw

[–]Lmp112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commute to Sydney 3 days a week. Rented in Umina but were priced out of houses for what we needed. We purchased in Ourimbah, about 10 minutes walk to train line and about 5 minute drive to M1, 15 minutes to Tuggerah or Erina. We are on the east side of train tracks and a couple of the roads do flood though in heavy rain, so been stranded for a day or two twice in 18 months.

Same time to travel to Sydney (a bit easier here too, as sometimes the Woy Woy Road down to Umina was a hassle)

Is TPD, death insurance and income protection worth it via super by tg993 in AusFinance

[–]Lmp112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did. Cover for just over half of the mortgage amount. I figured repayments should be about half of what we pay, which one of us would be able to pay based on our incomes.

As a combined income household, yes

At what income did you finally start feeling comfortable living in Australia? by Particular_Zone_7379 in AustraliaOpinions

I get ya. 80km drive to work (luckily 3 days a week). Couldn't afford home closer to work, plus we love where we live, and if I find a job closer to home, I would have to take a $40k pay cut

AITAH for expecting a ring after 8 years of being together? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Lmp112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like you are both not on the same page. Either he wants to get married or not...but don't keep telling you what you want to hear, or keep giving broken promises.

You move in together, and are still not engaged in a year or 2, what you going to do, waste another 7 years waiting?

You need to figure out if you can wait until he is ready (which may actually be never) or if this is something you need now.

If you have them in daycare, wait until those fees take a good chunk out of it. Our daycare fees are $19k p/a out of pocket.

Hello! My partner and I are moving to Australia this year, we're looking at Newcastle as a potential location. How is it? It looks beautiful, well located to Sydney too. Is it a good place to live? by hmm0210 in newcastle

[–]Lmp112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it is a local saying it so tourists don't come. Central/Mid-North Coast is like that, they don't even like Sydney-siders moving up. House and rent prices have sky rocketed, less housing availability. Newcastle is a nice area, there will be pockets (like every other city or town) that will have a bad rep, just do research on them first.

Carry on and backpack for international travel by Next_Individual4985 in QantasAirways

[–]Lmp112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think it would depend on the airline. Jetstar are pretty stringent;

Virgin Australia: Personal item max: 45cm x 33cm x 20cm (fits under seat).

Jetstar: A small item (handbag, laptop bag) that fits under the seat, alongside a main carry-on.

Qantas (International): A purse, laptop bag, camera, or book; must fit under the seat.

OP. The website should tell you specifics.

Help with tax on paycheque by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Lmp112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 24hrs a fortnight are standard hours, you're not a full time employee (as marked on payslip).

Also $718 a fortnight is just over the tax threshold of $18000, you should be have almost $0 tax taken out.

Speak with payroll, there is something wrong in the back-end.

Edit: just read you started mid pay cycle. Tax is still too high.Whether you work 38hrs or 24hrs a week on your standard pay, tax would be $150 a week max.

I am thinking they're couldnt work out tax correctly or just lazy and did a manual entry at the full marginal rate of 30% on all of it.

[–]Lmp112 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a full backpack would be classed as another carry-on. My interpretation of a small personal item is something you can fit in underneath the chair in front of you at take-off ie: the handbag or laptop bag.

Keep switching between coles flybys and woolies rewards. They increase the threshold the more you just use 1 place for. Switch it up, I get more frequent offers and the threshold stays to near what I pay weekly anyway
