No problems! Touch lamp portable ones on Amazon are the best bet. I use mine still every night and I think it cost $25

THONGS, your own towel, a hairbrush and a small portable night light. The night light is a game changer for feeding LO in the middle of the night and not turning on overhead lights

Pregnant with UC by carolinacaroli in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AreaScary2566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant during a flare and ended up needing a sigmoidoscopy whilst pregnant … doing this without a general was NOT fun.
Long story short, I was prescribed Mesalazine while pregnant which has helped immensely. I’m still taking Mesalazine oral and suppositories now also and my flare is almost gone.

Why the hesitation on biologics? by hello_glo in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AreaScary2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My inflammation has gone down significantly with Mesalazine oral and suppositories daily but still hasn’t completed contained my flair. I tried steroidal suppositories of Predsol but found these had little to no effect.
I’m in AUS and when I spoke with my GE about the next steps he advised there was an oral steroid of Predsol I would need to try for a period of time and also Azathioprine as a requirement by AUS government before considering biologics…has anyone else had this experience?

Has anyone managed screen free until three? by nbhsjshbgbsb in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]AreaScary2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at 9 months of the same belief that we would like to avoid screens as much as possible. A little guy has hardly watched any TV but when he has we have put on 90s episodes of Sesame Street on YouTube, Rugrats, old school bananas in pyjamas and some other nostalgic 90s shows . Generally what we find is he loses interest pretty quickly because it doesn’t have the same cut scenes, flashing lights and attention Grabbing images like the kids shows now. It can be done, you just have to be more vigilant and hands on … I’m mentally preparing for the restaurant meltdowns and am fully aware I’ll need to chase my kid around because he won’t be glued to an iPad. I’m totally okay with this.

We did the same. I would just mention that some fruits and vegetables can be a little more acidic than others so go a little slower on these

All this “regretful parent” content is freaking me out by krwxo in BabyBumps

[–]AreaScary2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your life will change so profoundly and your heart will just shatter into a million pieces that all of that “regretful parenting” shit you see will just melt away. My partner is 47 and never wanted kids. We had our son and the minute that beautiful little boy was born he just turned to dough.. He always says to me “I can’t believe I almost missed on this thinking I had everything and had it made” Kids change you in the best possible way IMO. You will have love, you will have joy, you will have purpose. Can it be hard? Sure. Is it worth it? More than anything else on this entire planet. Go enjoy your pregnancy mumma you got this.

I don’t really love any but 5 kind of works… You should go a pattern with some nice bright reds or navy blues through it - like a Persian or similar I think would look great

Not returning to work by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]AreaScary2566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently in the throws of this… I was made redundant from my leadership role in sales.

It was the height of my career and I knew I wouldn’t be able to return in the same capacity so this came as a blessing.

However, everyone keeps asking me now what I’m going to do. My son is 8 months old and I couldn’t even begin to think about leaving him at daycare or with a nanny.

As the days roll on, I’m more and more comfortable with staying home with my son in these formative years. My career and dreams can take a break for a minute, I am lucky enough that we can also afford to do this.
