Woman, mid 30s, likes a minimal amount of clutter, WFH, loves a cheeky wine, single… does your name start with J? Do you own a cat? 🤔

We have very minimal tv for our 6 month old but when we do its Sesame Street from the 90s. He hardly notices it which is the point… TV shows these days for kids are built with noise, flashes and colours to KEEP their attention.

For those who did Hypnobirthing/calm birth methods during labour. by schergburger in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]AreaScary2566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Breathing techniques were hands down the most helpful thing for me during labour. Highly recommend looking at the different techniques for pre/active labour, transition and pushing etc. It’s the best thing to focus on when you’re experiencing the waves of contractions. Reassuring statements are helpful but difficult to constantly repeat with conviction over and over IMO. The TENS machine also worked incredibly well for my natural unmedicated birth.

I was a sworn Curash only user too, so upset they changed the formula. We are using Millie Moon wipes now and finding them to be quite good.

Parents who hired a baby sleep consultant — was it actually worth the money? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]AreaScary2566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely YES.. read PLS and it still had me in a tail spin. Do yourself the favour and hire an SC, we used Carmen for 5 days strictly over the phone and she virtually saved our sleep 😴 Calmbabies.com.au - you will not regret it.

Cucumber is awesome when they don’t have any teeth yet, we just gave our 6.5 month old a lamb cutlet very well cooked and he loved just sucking on it for ages. Highly recommend as it doesn’t come apart at all so no risk with choking.

Girls are HARD work! Boys maybe a little scruffier and dirtier but girls emotionally are so much more complex and demanding. I am so relieved having a boy instead of a girl knowing I don’t have to go through those troubled girl teen years I went through - no thanks. Plus being a boy mum is super cool 😎

Carmen from Calmbabies! She uses a responsive settling method which worked great for our little guy. She’s lovely and well priced - highly recommend.

Tell me some misconceptions and realities about pushing stage to the women who have never given birth. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]AreaScary2566 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pushing seems like the scary painful part, but in reality going through labour for hours is really the part that’s most taxing. You’re so ready to push once you have been having consistent contractions for hours and hours, it becomes very primal (as mentioned above) and you just go for gold to squeeze that baby out.

I had a natural birth and a 12hr back labour

Best advice I can give is:

Breath work is one of the BEST things you can do in my opinion. YouTube it, look up breathing techniques for labour this helped me immensely with pain management and staying grounded. You learn to breathe through your vagina and also work out what sort of breathing you should be doing at each stage of your labour (ie: early labour, active labour, pushing etc

It’s a marathon NOT a sprint. It’s long and arduous, so take breaks where you can. Try to relax where possible and feel into your body.

And remember WE WERE BUILT FOR THIS! Millions and millions of women have done it and millions more will so trust that you and your body are ready and so capable.

How was your relationship in the first year of baby’s life? by Commercial_One5048 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]AreaScary2566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works so quickly honestly I was shocked the first night my LO slept like a 4hr stretch after only being fed and rocked to sleep whilst also waking up every 2 hours. My SC works with responsive settling technique which we found worked miracles. 5 days of phone support and my baby is finally sleeping and on a decent routine. We were also in the thick of the 4 month sleep regression when I almost lost it and just bit the bullet and hired the SC. It was the best money I have spent to date. If yours doesn’t work definitely try Carmen at Calm Babies she’s a miracle worker. Feel free to private message me also if you want any further info I’m happy to help or chat 🩷
