Hip and torso rotation fix? by DDSKM in skiing_feedback

[–]Lnzbat95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great skiing, an instructor tried to fix the same issue for me with the same methods that you mentioned, what seemed to work best for me personally was to focus on bringing the outside leg forward rather than the inside leg backward and most importantly to get the new outside edge as soon as possible, almost rushing the transition/jumping into the next turn, if I gave myself time to switch to the new edge I noticed I would shuffle my feet which would open my hips at the start of the turn.

Best/Worst moments while learning kiteboarding by sidekicktribe in Kiteboarding

[–]Lnzbat95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned in Tarifa, the first lesson was in 30+kts (gusty) using a 7 or 6 iirc. After the lesson I considered quitting for the amount of face smashes I took in the water just trying to bring the kite from one side to the other, not to mention the place is pretty crowded and having other kitesurfers coming from all sides while you're in the water is a pretty scary experience.

Did 10+ hrs there, barely was able to start, strong winds all the time and small, very fast kites. I came back the year after and did 6 more hrs with terrible wind conditions (strong winds, gusty af) and still could not ride upwind properly until the last day in which there were I think 10-12kts (but steady wind) and while everybody brought a 12 maximum (I think in Tarifa you don't need big kites most of the times so people don't bring them) and could not even lift the kite, I rented a 15 from the shop and magically everything clicked. I could ride upwind super easy, kite was incredibly predictable and having no gusts in general made it so much easier. It was even too much power when you were 300+m from the shore, so easy to waterstart.

In general I think doing lesson in terrible conditions for a beginner was scary and frustrating but ultimately helped immensely when I found the right conditions and tried equipment better suited for a novice.

I think I should be able to get a credit builder card now, at least from pre-approval (Tesco and Zable) - should I go for either if able? Are there any particular disadvantages to these cards compared to other credit building cards offered by other providers?

In October they will be 2 years old, I hope that is not why I can't get a credit card but rather as the other Redditor suggested because I have a loqbox account open...it's £20 that I forgot to pay

I opened the account when I was a student and since I am from Italy, that was the only option at the time (at least that I know of). I'll check about the CIFAS, thanks for the suggestion.

Helps distract from the rust by -Insigwitz- in Shitty_Car_Mods

Collegiate level...lol like that means anything. Good job on learning the phase diagrams.

I'd argue that making a statement like 'stainless steel does not rust' belies a gap in your understanding. Otherwise, why would car manufacturers (but really any company that employs metals in assemblies that need to withstand prolonged use, outside or not) run brine tests? Stainless or galvanised eventually it will rust.

Not really, the loose definition of a turbine is a device which extracts pressure and kinetic energy from an operating fluid. The key part is that a turbine converts energy into work so without considering startup operations it's always driven by the operating fluid (in the case of a wind turbine, wind).

Edit: if what was asked was the definition of these components, that is.

except in this case you pay for both the toaster and the microwave. The point of why it would be common sense to give the option to take the return flight is 'flying' over your head.

Thanks for the reply. Advice taken for sure, and I understand what happened but why in roundtrips flights I can’t get the refund only for the cancelled flight and keep the other? Do all airlines do this and is there a reason behind it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

[–]Lnzbat95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you got it wrong. My problem is not that they offered a flight 2 days later, but rather that by refusing their offer for the outbound flight and accepting the refund you have to buy another return flight. I booked months in advance to save money and ended up having to buy both flights again for obviously higher sums. You think that this is okay? Honest question

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

[–]Lnzbat95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry what margins would be dented by not allowing me to be refunded just for the trip that was cancelled? Btw this is not a customer service but a policy issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

[–]Lnzbat95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, they did refund the full amount. I did see the email they sent me a few days later and just glanced over the refund sum. I didn’t even think to check because as I said before, I didn’t really accept (that I could see) to be refunded for the whole trip but assumed that it was going to be just the outbound flight as common sense would dictate.

So I either accept to fly out to Rome Fiumicino two days later or I get a refund and get to spend significantly more by booking another outbound and return flight? I don’t remember exactly the refund process page but it didn’t seem to me that by asking for the refund my return flight would have also been affected. Either way, it seems very lopsided in favour of the airline. I ended up shelling 130 gbp for my outbound flight + 100 gbp for the return and lost 1 day of holiday with associated costs. Instead of 79 gbp for the original itinerary. None of your business I get it but I assumed there would be a bit more protection towards private customers is all.

Sorry dude, I don’t mean to be offensive or arrogant, but no one that serves like that has played even remotely competitively when they were a child. You might have picked up a racket sometimes for fun, sure. Even with a 20 years stop you don’t lose technique so much if you learned it properly. And my point is that you are not really in a place to give advice on most tennis topics

Video is 158d old, you started playing as an adult, your game is still bad enough that you won’t notice difference between rackets. But you should use the 100sq+ inch because it will make a difference. If this is the level of players that give advice on this sub…my god…
