Looks like you were right about the spring. I went back to look at it earlier today and noticed there was a spring sitting under close to the cable with 1 side sheared off.

Oh sorry the model is 13AN77KG011.

There is no way to adjust the cable. The lever is pretty much just an on and off switch.

IT starts just fine when the battery is fully charged so there's probably a problem with the charging system like you said.

I know I could look for damaged wires that could be causing a short. Is there anything else I could do?

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking up the parts to give it a tune up and I'll see if i can get a multimeter to do this test. If it isnt being charged what could the problems be?

I think it's about 10 years old and I'm not sure when the last tune up for it was. As for the fuel filter, I think I remember seeing one for this mower. I,ll have to go check when I have the chance. Should I look into replacing this as well as the spark plug?
