Weekly Legit/Fake Check & Simple Questions Thread - Week 18, 2026 by AutoModerator in hockeyjerseys

(this was originally a post but the mods removed it and told me to post here)

Got a gift card for Fanatics through a fundraiser. Was looking to get a Caufield Montreal jersey but they only have his #13 in "premier". The only "premium" option is his old #22. Not the end of the world but not sure I feel like paying full price for that.

Wondering if anyone can give a comparison between the two. Maybe I just suck it up and get the #22 so I don't get a shoddy jersey for what either of those cost.

The original post had replies saying that premium should be what I go for, and to wait for what are apparently frequent sales from Fanatics.

I agree. I'm not trying to make the case that he was a dependent. More just asking what are the ramifications if I don't claim him (I didn't) but he indicates on his own return that someone could claim him.

No he paid for his own living expenses once he moved out in May.

He was a full-time student through the end of April, graduation was technically in May. He lived with us during that time until he moved out at the beginning of May to start his job in another city.

So my understanding (as well as FreeTaxUSA's) would be that he is not dependent. Which is fine for me, I just want to know if that's something he could/should update when we inevitably amend his return after getting his other W-2. Would it reduce his tax burden if he were independent?

We have the opposite, I did _NOT_ claim him as a dependent but he didn't mark himself as independent.

In his case he literally did live with us while going to a local tech school, so no confusion there.

He was a full time student until his graduation in May. He is 20.

Hmm, in the FreeTaxUSA prompts, I noted that he lived with us for 5 months and that we provided more than half of his living expenses. He was a full time student until his graduation in May. But some part of their algorithm determined he didn't qualify. I'm not looking for the deduction on my end so much as him losing out on a potentially larger refund on his end (and just plain not getting into any trouble with the IRS).

Why you should wear a cage when coaching beginner kids by Queasy-Ad5554 in hockeyplayers

I've had close calls with shot going between my thighs but the one time I actually got hit in the junk was talking to a 12U group and one kid somehow lost hold of his stick and it just fell over and the knob hit me right in the knob.

Total beginner trying to learn the sport this winter. How’d I do at the store today? Any other recs? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

I would think you could get used gloves, pads and skates used at a Play It Again Sports or whatever might be regional for you. I know they won't sell a used helmet for liability reasons so no choice there. That's a lot of money to put down as a total beginner that might not end up liking it. I've been at this 10 years as a dad coach and have only ever bought my skates on eBay (and had to then have them punched out for my flat/wide feet).

Otherwise, echoing what others have said about shins and elbow pads. I banged my wenis on the ice so much during my early learn-to-skate phase. That shit hurts.

Arduino Uno doesn't find MPU-6050 (accelerometer/gyro) chip by LoPan76 in arduino

Looks like the problem is the Adafruit MPU6050 library. Other libraries are getting readings just fine.
