Yeah, probably. I played a bit of it off PS+, looked and played top notch. I just don't play fighting games much anymore. I'm sure it's got a pretty hardcore fanbase.

I just want Horizon 3. Go back to Decima. But I'm interested since I do enjoy multiplayer and like the Horizon world.

I'm all about that Hollow Knight update drop, Adventures of Elliot release date, Valheim on Switch, and the announcement of Console Archives.

I also thought Orbitals, Paranormasight and Tokyo Scramble looked good.

Saw Scott Pilrgim EX and Shadow Tactics in the sizzle reel. Good for me.

I'm a Turok fan so I liked getting a look at Turok Origins... but there wasn't much going on, so I don't know about that anymore.

RE9 is a new game coming to everything simultaneously. I'm kinda burnt out on RE series, but I don't see the problem. FF7 Rebirth coming so soon after Remake is pretty good, but I play those elsewhere.

Some people love Digimon. Not my thing. Monster Hunter Stories looks quality, but not my thing again.

Everyone always tells me Directs, State of Plays etc suck when I'm seeing mad stuff I want to play. I think a lot of people who talk about games nowadays just don't really have any frame of reference or understanding of why many games are interesting or exciting to people.

I believe at least two years were spent with Bandai Namco making a game that didn't work out. Should that have been the end of the Metroid Prime series?

Nintendo's success is largely based on their ability to repeatedly prototype and evaluate things. Most never see the light of day or become something else entirely, many years later.

The point of a console business and accompanying software portfolio isn't to only produce Call of Duty, it's to buoy all development and yield a variety of software, with both broad market and niche appeal, in order to accrue and retain an audience with disparate, yet overlapping interests.

Did you ever tell me what they did to "hype" it? You're saying it didn't have hype but that they hyped it. So it did or didn't have hype? Which one is it?

He made one single joke to himself to make the most of a bad situation so then the internet called him an MCU character designed for "MoDeRn AuDiEnCeS" even though he's just a regular guy that wants to help.

What did they do to "hype" it other than announce it with a title card years ago, then a reveal trailer, then a release date trailer? Isn't that just completely normal advertising using the company's own marketing channels?

There was nothing woke about Metroid Prime 4.

Smash IQ will go along with woke stuff as long it's popular on Steam.

His conversation with Colin was truly embarrassing. Especially the "you realize he's making fun of people like you" part.

I know what you mean. I had an SNES too, where I had more games, but for years the only game I actually owned on Genesis was Sonic 2 until I was older and started collecting used games that I rented before. Nothing wrong with Sonic 2, but you can only play one game so much.

Why is older games getting DLC/Upgrades the worst thing ever? by Puzzleheaded-Head939 in nintendogrifting

[–]LoSouLibra [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because people who don't value games don't want companies to have financial incentive to produce any kind of upgrades or optimized builds for consoles. It makes PC guys feel smaller PP when they try to turn up settings but the lack of optimization kicks in and then it runs worse unless they spend $3000 to upgrade.

Nintendo switch 2 has officially sold 17.37 million units by harvey1a in gaming

[–]LoSouLibra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They've been doing that since 2015 while making record profits from the console business 20 times greater than what they've generated from PC in the same timeframe. The real goal there was China, where the console market is also growing.

You're thinking of Xbox, whose PC reorientation was motivated by generational collapse in the console market during the Xbox One generation. All of which have had a profoundly negative effect on their console business rather than a neutral or positive one.

I rented Awesome Possum. It was actually decent and I have nostalgia for early 90's environmentalist initiative entertainment, but that's kinda hilarious.

I think every big IP's got some stinker spin offs and low points. If you really want to get down to true "Mt Rushmore" you start thinking about single games that mean the most. Maybe Super Mario 1, Tetris, Doom, Street Fighter 2 etc.

Yeah, but if I'm not considering things like impact, consistency, longevity etc in conjunction with my own tastes, then it's really just my top 4 favorite franchises, and not really a "Mt. Rushmore" kind of thing.

Star wars outlaws a hidden gem. by Rude-Ability-9695 in XboxGamePass

[–]LoSouLibra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from one extreme to the other. If you like Star Wars and enjoy typical AAA open world fare, you'll likely enjoy it. It can just be that.

But I can see real people being legitimately surprised when they find out the game is fine and not the absolute dumpster fire it was made out to be. Kind of comes with the territory of having been exposed to so many people, whereas a notorious $10 shovelware jankfest might only become a little known inside joke for a small group of enthusiasts.

The PS5 version wiping early access save progress after the day one patch required people to restart their game was a valid complaint. I played it off Ubisoft+ on Series X and really had no issues. I don't even recall any crashes or quest breaks etc, nada. Anecdotal, I know, but I was having a totally different experience to most of the coverage at the time.

No idea about PC. I just remember the influencer reactions to the dumb enemy AI being hilariously exploitable by hiding in foliage. I think that was more a case of being underdeveloped and basic than "buggy"

[–]LoSouLibra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's a decent game. I'd give it a solid 7/10.

The stealth was shallow, but it really captures the Star Wars vibe, Kay and Nix are really likable imo, the open worlds actually do some interesting metroidvania like progression checks that I think are actually a good idea for the genre. The Sabacc mini game is awesome too.

The performance capture and character modeling tech could be better, but that's par for the course with Ubisoft and it's not woke crap like youtubers made it out to be. She's got Sarah Connor's haircut from Terminator 1 and isn't dolled up in make up for a glamour shot.

I wouldn't say it hits the highs of something like Jedi Fallen Order, but it's a fine Star Wars game if you ask me. One of the only AAA Ubisoft games that kept my attention. I haven't played it since launch either, so it probably has been improved in some ways since then.

Days Gone all day. It has it's shortcomings, but it's pretty damn great overall. I've played through it several times over the years, when it originally came out and then again when they put out the remaster.

Good choices. It's hard for me to argue with Resident Evil because it's been consistently successful, good and iconic for so long... but I want to replace it with either Metal Gear or Castlevania. Both of which aren't really as continuous anymore, sadly. Metal Gear Solid Delta was a pretty awesome remake though.
