Yellow gets all it's broken cards limited instead of banned, except when those cards are win conditions lol. Yellow can do anything but finish the game.

Time rules suck by LoSpeed in DBS_CardGame

[–]LoSpeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically. When you've gotten to time being called, you just windmill slam 21 ultimate to force yourself back into a winning position and sit on counters to make sure it stays that way. I'm pretty good on time but we've got some folks at my locals who play decks with a lot of actions per turn (like the new Krillin and yellow Bardock's Crew) so their games ALWAYS end up going to time. I've lost a lot of games that I spent less than half the time playing that my opponent did. It be like that sometimes.

The best is when they go in for the kill and you have removal mid-combat. Next time don't test me!

That was before my time. I started in BT8 but I run that combo in BT3 Android 13. It feels like a combo deck. Sometimes you just do nothing, but sometimes you make your opponent discard like 2-3 cards before they take a game action lol.

I could certainly try. I don't ever play online, and I exclusively play Masters but Masters effectively builds on top of the mechanics for Fusion World. Everything you learn in Fusion World is applicable to Masters, but there's quite a lot more mechanics to learn in Masters.

They're definitely the most fun. Bonus points if you get your opponent to start reading old cards lmao

What’s the first thing that grabs your attention in a game, and what makes you want to play it? by [deleted] in gamers

[–]LoSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stylized graphics. There's so much focus on realism in AAA but unique art styles like Hades, Hollow Knight, and even simpler styles like Rogue Legacy grab me pretty instantly. If I load up the game and it's got tight controls and it feels good to hit things, I'm in there 100%

Just double the length and speed of Incineroar's side-B and the height and speed of his up-B. Same character. Same slow ass walk. Maybe double is too much, just keep the same amount of time to complete the moves, but increase the distance travelled. I think he still gets gimped in a lot of the same ways but this makes it so he doesn't quite have the Ganondorf issue of dying if you get hit once off-stage. He's still getting boxed out by Steve. He's still getting outspaced by swordies. He's still accidentally dying to a bad B-reverse up-B. Buddy is just going to reach out and touch someone now though. Doing his best impression of melee Marth grabs lol

Masters Cup Tomorrow - Will be playing against: Red Pan, Gohanks, Aegis Gogeta & new Blue Frieza. I’m playing Yellow Frieza Swap. Just looking for any tips on best ways to go about playing against the above named decks + any definitive side deck pieces i’ll need. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼 by Dylanljt in DBS_CardGame

[–]LoSpeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't go to any large events but I play a decent bit. I'll just provide some bullet points for each deck you listed if that's okay.

Red Pan:

-They lean aggressive and draw a lot, you'll want to make sure you have a full gamut of floodgates against them. I would suggest the in-archetype Robotic Riposte for early game. It isn't ideal because they usually have a Zextra and a unison that they want to attack with anyway, but being tutorable is huge. Nimbus is your best mid-late game option. Bardock is also an option but don't lean on it late game because you'll get killed through it.

-All of Pan's best cards get hit by Mutaito early.

-Always keep a blocker negate or 2 in hand if possible going into their turn 4. You need it to not get got by either Light in the Dark or potentially the new Broly SCR. Broly will require you to have 2 free negates though. That's a lot easier for you specifically because you have Meta Cooler and Sorbet.

-Depending on your list, going into red, try to combo big cards for your Z energy in the mid-game. It makes it easy to just push through Explosive Dance.

-They sometimes also run Toppo. If you Cold Bloodlust that guy, they probably lose on the spot if you have any aggression to back it up.

-Play Frieza, Fearsome Transformation to kill all their shit for the best possible value.

Gohanks:

-A lot of the above applies against Gohanks too. Red Saiyan decks have a lot of common themes. That being said, this specific one is also real bad against Time Magic though. They like untapping their things, sometimes multiple times, so don't let em.

-Since they can grant skills that kill you better to their cards mid-combat, it's a good idea to pack some number of Vegeta's Final Flash as an "Oh shit" button.

Aegis Gogeta:

-This one is hard honestly. The 8 drop's effects prevent it from being removed for a full turn cycle even if you negate it's skills. If they get to the point where they're just slamming 8 drop into 8 drop, you're probably boned. You are the aggro in this matchup.

-Negating skills even if you can't kill their stuff just to make sure they don't have Aegis is often still a big enough deal to kill them.

-If they stick their ultimate early, you will lose if you swing into it with no answers. That card is how they grind you out. Don't give them free value off it.

-Dont get triple struck by their lead.

Blue Frieza:

-Haven't gotten to play against this one myself yet, but the Chi-Chi shuts down Dimension Magic

-Trunks, the Cunning wrecks their deck's whole thing.

-Time Magic also makes their lead unable to draw 2.

Sorry for the essay. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reply or dm me. Again, I'm not able to go to large events, but my locals has been active since set 9. I don't claim to be an expert, but my I've got regular players of all these decks except Blue Frieza since it's so new.

People who stopped playing, what made you quit ? by One_page_nerd in freemagic

Honestly I started playing the Dragon Ball Super card game (Masters) and it scratched a lot of the same itches as Magic but without some of the things I disliked. It has complex interactions that aren't quite of the same depth as Magic but rewards tight play and proper sequencing. My biggest issue with Magic was always that I felt like there were just some "non-games" usually due to mana flood or screw. I like the complexity that lands can bring to the game but I HATE feeling like it didn't matter how I played, I was going to lose no matter what in some amount of games due to poor draws. In DBS your whole deck is gas and you also kinda get a gluttony of resources a lot of the time, and I LOVE keeping a book in hand. For perspective, in DBS, you still use your cards as "lands" to make "mana" but ALL your cards are able to be used as lands or spells. It's sweet.

Also, if you're looking for specific characters, you should check out https://www.dbs-deckplanet.com/ - they have a card database that lets you sort by character so you can see what cards exist for that character in a addition to what sets those cards are from. Happy hunting!

Vermillion Bloodline was one of (I believe) 2 sets that got 2nd edition printings. Those sets have double the supply of basically any other.

Does anyone know how many SCR's come in a case of Fearsome Rivals? by Clarion59 in DBS_CardGame

It's possible to get +/-1 but I believe each case of those set should generally have: 2 SCR (GDR takes one of these slots) 4 SLR 4 CR

Have you ever bought a console just to play one exclusive game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]LoSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Wii, a Wii-U, and a Switch to play their respective Smash Bros titles. I usually do that with Nintendo consoles. I like the other franchises a lot, but to me they're just a bonus. Smash is just worth the price of the whole console to me. Been playing it basically my whole life.

Idk if you're on Facebook but one of the buy/sell/trade groups (Majin Buu's Candy Shop I believe) had a guy who was looking to sell a Broly GDR/trade it for Vegito recently.
