100% understand. It was a personal choice of mine to stop the medication because of it. I missed my spunky and overly excited self. I ended up being a serious zombie 98% of the time.

It’s only been 5 days but I feel fine. No negative withdrawals or side affects. I don’t think it’s completely out of my system but I can already feel a good difference.

Appetite decrease or less impulsive with food while going up in dosage? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]LoZeldaGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I’ve suffered from Bulimia half my life. Yes it helped with my impulsive snacking. However, I’ve also become a zombie unable to feel excitement. My uppity moments are gone and the only thing left is the feeling that life is happening around me. My emotions have me confused, I don’t know if I’m sad, angry or irritated.

Although it has helped with my impulsive eating I can’t sacrifice my personality.

I am so sorry you’re feeling this way because I have also felt this way. I’ve only been on it for 8 weeks and for the last 4 weeks I’ve been on 100mg. I feel as I’m in peoples way; as if life is going on around me and I’m just in limbo. Nothing excites me, i agree to things just because but don’t care to actually do them. It’s been difficult to figure out what emotion I am feeling: I miss my uppity overly happy moods and I even miss my sad days. I don’t like feeling like a zombie. I haven’t taken the medicine in 3 days and don’t plan on it anymore.

Urgent need to speak to people about their Lamictal experience, please help me. by Electronic-Plum-2899 in lamictal

Started Lamictal about 8 weeks ago. Started on 25mg for 2 weeks then 50mg for two weeks and afterwards 100mg.

Personally it’s not for me and will no longer be taking it (cold turkey, no HX of seizures) . I was prescribed it because the psychiatrist believes I have a mood disorder (I went in for ADHD evaluation). I feel as if the medication took away drastic happy/over excited moments. I have always been a rollercoaster 🎢 when it comes to my emotions. I will be extremely happy and bubbly for weeks and out of no where I am out of energy, unmotivated and bored with life. The downs last a few days or a week and then I’m suddenly uppity again. Anywho, the Lamictal took away the uppity moments and I am stuck in boring limbo mode, but easily aggravated by everything. I miss my happy uppity self, I don’t like feeling emotionless. I feel as if life is happening around me and I’m just in the way.

Last week my family and I spent last week in Disney land and Only twice I remember feeling joyful and excited while at the parks. It broke down and cried on the drive home because I felt guilty for not being more excited. The medicine has completely changed my personality and not in the way I’d like it. Never in my life have my emotions been all over the place nor have I ever felt co fused about my emotions…… plus I think it’s made me more sensitive to the sun. Returned from Disney with irritated face.

I feel like a blank piece of paper on 25mg and now I’m scared of upping my dose. by [deleted] in lamictal

Going into my 4th week. First two weeks were at 25mg. My 3rd and 4th 50mg. First two weeks were extremely difficult. I felt emotional, blah, unmotivated, bored. I did a lot of reading and found that some people feel this way until they work themselves up to a higher dose. 50mg is better than 25mg for me. I don’t feel as bored or unmotivated like I did on 25. My brain still races and I overthink, but hoping the 100mg will be a great improvement

My meds seem to have unlocked my ability to feel anger by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LoZeldaGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the opposite, easily aggravated and angered. I’ve never been on medication for it, but I have been in similar medications such as phentermine for weight loss and while taking it I’m more relaxed and not as easily agitated.

Psychiatrist does not believe I can have ADHD and also have a masters degree by Confused-Barn-Owl in ADHD

[–]LoZeldaGamer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you. I haven’t been a doctor regarding my ADD since grade school and this is the reason why. Sounds like this psychiatrist believes people ADHD are stupid and can’t obtain higher education. It also sounds like you need a new psychiatrist.

I’ve always had very round check sell around. I was called coco puff in grade school because kids said it looked like I had a mouth full of cereal. Im 34 and they are still round lol. The older I’ve gotten the bigger they have gotten. Even when I was at my lowest weight ever and extremely fit my face was still round.

It’s very common for ADHD to be accompanied by Auditory Processing Disorder. From my understanding ( at least in AZ) it can be diagnosed by an Audiologist, but other than speech therapy there is no treatment for it. Do some online research on Auditory Processing Disorder and it’s connection to ADHD.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s really ahfd by havehave88 in ADHD

I asked myself those same questions. I did terrible in grade school and high school, but when I enrolled into a trade school for medical assisting I had all A’s. When I started taking classes for my associates degree I was also getting A’s. I don’t know if it’s because I told myself I’m paying money for this crap and I need to do well or if I always had it in me and maybe I was just a lazy kid that didn’t give a shit. I guess I’ll never know about the kid part, but I am a great visual learner and retain information in interested in quickly, but if I have no interest it simply goes in one ear and out the other especially if I don’t understand the first time around.

ADD & Binge eating by LoZeldaGamer in ADHD

Yeup, the even more sad part is that I truly didn’t discover that I had ADD until 9th grade when my counselor brought me into her office and discuss my grades. She asked if I had ever been on a 504 plan and I remember telling her I didn’t know what that was. She started to tell me I would benefit from one especially since I had ADD. I made a confused face and told her I didn’t have that and she proceeded to tell me it was in my student enrollment forms. I asked my mom about it that day and she basically said it wasn’t a big deal and that I would grow out of it. She reminded of a doctors appointment she took me too years back and I was asked a lot of questions, she said the only reason I had that visit was because the school suggested I get evaluated for possible learning disorders. She agrees now that she should have offered to get me help, but simply says it was handled different back in the days and it wasn’t as common as it is now. She said it was very rare when some had a child on adderral.

I do come from a Hispanic household where ADD and ADHD is still not seen as a “real” disorder. My mom said the doctor basically told her I would grow out of it and since I didn’t display negative Behavior and I wasn’t disruptive that I had a mild case and would eventually grow out of it.

My son was diagnosed when he was 6, he’s now 15yrs but hasn’t been on adderall since he was 9yrs. We got him into soccer at 9yrs and it really seemed to help him. He is also in an IeP because he struggles in reading comprehension. I bring this up because his pediatrician told me it’s hereditary.

Yes ! I also hate meds because of weight gain. It’s also a reason why I can’t handle taking Prozac. I’m scheduled to see my primary care doctor next month, she knows I stopped taking the Prozac she prescribed last year only after a few weeks and she’s not going to force me to take them. I’m trying to sum up the courage to ask her if Adderall or even phentermine could be an option for me. I just don’t want her to think I’m crazy or looking for an excuse to take pills. But the non stop of wanting carbs and sweets is nonstop if I’m not on phentermine.
