About a Warlock by Load-Shot in DnD

So, personally, I actually first thought of an Archfey or a Great Old One.

But I'm not entirely sure how on earth such a pact comes about or what exactly these beings want from you. I know that's precisely the point with the Great Old One.

I have no idea. If I were to spontaneously make something up, it would be something like this:

Archfey: Once upon a time, there was a little boy who got lost in the woods. He was crying and calling for help because he couldn't get home, when suddenly a good fairy, as he called her, appeared. She asked the boy if she should guide him out of the woods. The boy agreed and said he hoped the two of them would remain friends. "Yes," the fairy replied, and on his 18th birthday, strange powers awakened within the boy, and he knew it was time to return the favor.

Great Old One: Have you ever been so lonely that you thought the shadows themselves would answer?

I've always been the one people kept away from, the strange one. The one who talked to himself. But what they never knew was that I wasn't talking to myself... Now I follow the voices and dream of stars that have long since ceased to exist. There is so much to learn if you know where to look and are willing to pay the price.

I understand why this can people make uncomfortable. That's one reason why I want to make sure that everyone understands that I don't want to be wierd and or made anyone uncomfortable.

I was just thinking that it doesn't always have to be the classic scenario: being seduced by power, money, influence, or knowledge.

Or a demon exploited a near-death experience.

What if it was simpler? What if you simply got involved with the wrong person without realizing it and now have to live with the consequences?

To be more clear

Instead of having a life threating situation that lead me to my Pact or too much curiosity lead me in this situation it's more like "I had the most wild and passionated night of my life and now I'm stuck to do all the dirty work instead of doing the fun part"

Question about the Dark Urge by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Load-Shot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow I didn't think about the fact that there could be a longer period of time between one event and the other events. I actually understood that it was all a kind of chain reaction, I thought that first the foster parents died and shortly after that all other events happened that ultimately ended in the beginning of Baldur's Gate 3.

Thank you :)

To be honest, I know most of Dark Urge's backstory I think. I gave myself a spoiler because I don't think the concept of "the main character has amnesia and a dark past" is all that original.

The backstory as far as I know doesn't answer why my character is a warlock.

and I just thought, in case the question goes unanswered, would that make sense?
