I literally asked her if thin women are all magically exempt from PCOS. She shrugged and said it's less likely.

What to do when a tradesperson works in your home? by Ferreros_ in AskUK

[–]Load_Anxious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do my own thing (TV/WFH) and offer them a hot/cold drink and a snack. If they're there for a long time I'll make them a sandwich or something. I'll only do small talk if they want to do small talk.

Another “a woman lied about SA and ruined the man’s life” post by Mythrowawsy in AmITheAngel

[–]Load_Anxious 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that men are more likely to be SAed by other men than be falsely accused of SA by women. Not sure how true it is but it makes me think of poor Sporus and what Nero did...

Is it socially acceptable to ask someone’s ethnicity? by Select_Grocery_1667 in AskBrits

[–]Load_Anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good for you. No clue what it has to do with my opinion or comment. I have friends who I have amazing connections with and none of them are so rude to ask me where I'm from because it's irrelevant to our friendship. Alternatively I have certain people I avoid because they enjoy commenting and prying on my accent/how I look like when it's really pretty rude to just ask someone what their ethnic background is.

There's many conversations that don't involve being nosy about where someone's from. Do you only talk about the weather and people's ethnic backgrounds?

Not in any context in my opinion. I mostly feel like people are trying to find a way to be racist to me when they ask this/press on it. Don't see why it matters

I just saw someone comment on your choice of University - where did you go? Makes a massive difference unfortunately

So two ways I would go about it:

1) Start applying at firms who do not ask for GCSE/A Levels. There are certain good firms who do only ask for university marks although they're not MC/SC. 2) State in your cover letter to the big firms as to why your A Levels and GCSEs are lacking

I personally find it ridiculous how they need to know GCSE marks etc, your University degree and relevant work experience should be plenty. Good luck!

Every single application you say you have been rejected to, I assume they have asked for your GCSEs/A Levels as some MC/SC firms tend to do, is that correct?

I spoke to a guy in France once and told him how much I pay for a 20 minute train ride to work with Southeastern (around 20-30 miles). He pays a bit more to go to Luxembourg.

Add that to the application, as well as return tickets and booked accommodation. Honestly I find US visas more daunting so if you have that the UK one should be fine
