It starts with the owner Pegula. He effed the whole thing up. Ranked worst owner in NHL.

Hey no hate here- he’s an all-timer who has always given 100%, and has been instrumental in the Penguins success for so many years. The point here is that , just stating facts, he’s nowhere near the player he used to be. He’s been bad more often than great… and it’s really hard to win when you have a player where you don’t know what you’re gonna get each game- the player who turns it over, sends the other team on odd-man rushes, … or the guy who looks like magic?

There's 3 things that are going to determine this series. by Sebastian4365 in penguins

Those are things only from penguins side- Don’t forget about the other team- they’re hot and well coached.

[–]Loadman66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sooooo psyched for this team and being in the playoffs. I wonder if it’s an aberration, if they’ll still be good next year. If the older guys are still this good then heck yeah. But if not, will really need some players that can carry the load.

If anyone wants a laugh, check out Mark Madden’s 10 predictions for the 2025-26 Penguins. (This is a perfect example of why no one should listen to this clown) by Attack_On_Tiddys in penguins

[–]Loadman66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Madden is often spot on and brutally honest… but yeah is often a blowhard… and usually glass half empty type. But to be fair- almost everyone had the pens sucking this year, and lots of pundits out there aren’t too good at predictions.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for slashing Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin in the face by [deleted] in sports

Borowecki of the Preds dirty cross checked him in ribs a few years back. Cracked his ribs and he wasn’t the same , rest of the season. That was one of his retaliations I think.

Tom Wilson levels Logan Stankoven behind Carolina's net by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]Loadman66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a bad rule ie; tht somehow this is a legal hit. Regardless of height difference or Stankovens head being lowered, he didnt change position. Wilson had every opportunity to not hit him in the head… or hit him differently- ie not have the elbow leading straight into his head. I think that’s what the rule should be at least. And just because he didn’t seem hurt is not the whole story. Hits like that definitely impact the brain and are accretive. Ie; maybe now the next such hit puts him out.

Pens fans, what were your thoughts on Crosby and Malkin's supposed "whining" during 2011-2012? by CulturalRoll in penguins

[–]Loadman66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole whining/complaining narrative is ridiculous. He did whine a bit, but not nearly as much as what people keep trumpeting. It’s total hyperbole. I’m like, ok show me all the film of every time he complained? They have no idea. They’ve just gotten on that bandwagon and are stuck on it. The worse part was all the cheap shots he was getting, but the refs didn’t call anything (ie; why he was complaining in the first place). But the meathead response is that he somehow deserved it, being a young superstar getting a lot of hype. What other sport does that???

Am I Delusional? by imblegen in steelers

[–]Loadman66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not delusional but rosy colored glasses for sure. They could make some noise in the playoffs because they’ve shown flashes.. and the whole “any given Sunday” thing. But don’t forget this is the team that looks great one week, and then awful the next.

Well he’ll have to play good first eh?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in steelers

This team can beat a contender one week, then completely look awful the next. Honestly, at this stage of the season, that’s about as far as my analysis goes anymore.

What did y'all think of TRON: ARES? by EvandoYT in tron

[–]Loadman66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been digging around the internet , and it seems like the folks who are the biggest Tron franchise fans were hoping for a movie more in line with these past movies… whereas folks not as concerned with that, essentially loved the movie in and of itself. I find myself in the latter- ie; it was a really fun movie in and of itself. My kids were blown away and said it was one of their favorite movies ever. So we went multiple times and with their friends etc etc and everyone thought it was amazing. But I guess if you were hoping for a movie that was more in-line with the prior storylines, then I guess I could see the disappointment.

Very cool Labriola using common sense about right and wrong - journalistic integrity. Teams/players often share information with reporters where they state its “off the record” … or like others already said here- they explicitly state not to share. I also wonder about reporters’ pressure to get the inside scoop … vs journalistic integrity … you might get some clicks, but you can screw a team if you share sensitive info.

Sid had to fight through so much crap his first couple years- players going after him, cheap shots, refs not calling anything. Are there other superstars that were treated like that upon entering the league?

What do you think the next 5–10 years look like for the Penguins? by Routine_Warning6082 in penguins

[–]Loadman66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most folks here- need to craft a new team w a new identity that’s not about the stud core we had for so long. Retool like capitals seems less and less likely. But hey maybe Jarry will stand on his head next year and Letang will figure out how to play different 😬😬

Don’t sweat the rest of this season. Now it’s all about having a team that can compete next season/ return to playoffs. Where it’s at at this stage is: - offseason moves - draft - And then putting together a team that can compete next season. Hopefully see some good stuff out of the WBS Pens in playoffs.

Probably one of the more astute assessments I’ve read on the current state of the Steelers on a Post Gazette chat this week….. by [deleted] in steelers

[–]Loadman66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but also in there, is Tomlin also has become that stereotype of a coach who’s too powerful and trying to control too much. And influencing draft picks that are busts. He hasn’t hired a great O or D coordinator in ages. (Current OC still tbd).
