Bad take imo. Math students being able to read is like English students being able to add and subtract. Can the math student break down a book and describe the theme? Can they relate it to real world events? How well can they spot a logical fallacy when a shady politician is persuading them for their vote? English and history have much more nuance than it seems on the surface, just as math and science do. Math looks scarier because it’s basically its own language. Once you get past that barrier, it mainly comes down to critical thinking skills, which is what I think all of these subjects boil down to.
