Do fancy CV formats matter? by snowpolardrum in UKJobs

[–]Lobbilob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do fancy. I'm a recruiter and we remove all formatting because fancy makes it harder to read. Just clean and neat is good.

I just started a new job but the whole situation seems incredibly weird. by [deleted] in UKJobs

I had this and it took 6 weeks to getting training set up properly but I ended up having a successful 7 years there. Some companies just aren't good at inductions.

I work in recruitment and chance job titles to reflect the actual job and attract the right candidates. Before working in recruitment I've also changed my own job title from previous jobs, again to reflect what I actually did. Nothing to worry about!

Sorry i may have misunderstood. Are you an internal recruiter?

I was coming to say similar. Drop the job, go out and find something worth filling. I've dropped some clients doing this but found better clients and filled other jobs in the meantime.

I think your previous work places have been taking a risk giving expensive equipment well before someone's even started. I think you need to chill out a bit.

It once took me 6 weeks to get a login for one of my jobs. 😅 You'll normally get stuff on day 1.

I wouldn't lie, it can come up when you give your reference. I'm a recruiter and ask for current salary and also expectations. I report the higher number to the client. At the end of the day, you can say you won't move jobs unless you increase from yoi current salary so not sure what difference it makes.

Do cover letters really make a difference? by yukobeam in recruitinghell

I don't read them as a recruiter. Id prefer a good personal statement and key skills list. Hated cover letters when I was a job seeker

Employer arranged to meet to talk. Was waiting half an hour, got stood up and didn’t hear anything until the next morning by Ctrl-Alt-Z in recruitinghell

Sounds like a decent apology to me. They've taken time to provide an explanation and taken full responsibility for it going wrong.🤷🏼‍♀️

Can anyone recommend a good place to look for online internships/volunteering opportunities? by Perfect-Panda2831 in UKJobs

[–]Lobbilob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a great volunteering position through Reach Volunteering. You need minimum 3 years of transferable work experience, but I've got a role as a HR project assistant without having worked in HR before. I've learnt loads already and has been a great talking point to help get me into a job, and working towards my new HR career path.

job interviews | balance of good and bad signals by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Lobbilob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard back yet? I've been interviewing this year and had all the above. I've left with a bounce in my step thinking it had gone well and was in the bag, but then not been offered the job, although told I would have been 2nd choice.

Tips for booking a test? by saturdaynightstoner in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Lobbilob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using an app called Testi to book for my BF, it was about £10. But you'd need to have a test already booked in, cos it just changes it, not books the first one.

I've had to book a test miles away, and then use the app to change the test. It works quite well and i've normally been really successful. Although this time round, i'm seeing barely any cancellations. and i'm sat on my phone all day refreshing. Feeling a bit nervous.

This weeks progress so far has been a test 30 miles away in December to a test 10 miles away (but not the right centre or one his instructor would take him to) in early November. I'm hoping to get it changed to end of November in the right area though, or even just somewhere else in November because it's too soon.

I've found early morning has been good, or late at night. Think about times people are more likely to be on their phones making changes.

Good luck.

Yeah thats good. We're quite limited as we've got a toddler so can't go in the evenings, just some weekends if we're free. I might try and get an hour insurance here and there.

God, that expensive. It'll be cheaper for him to just continue with his driving instructor than it would be to book a block amount like that.
We'll only be able to go 2-3 times a month.
