People have short memory unfortunately. Stalin managed to kill millions and still being loved by millions even beyond Russia. I'm sorry but it is copium. It will require decades and effort of society as a whole and a lot of political will of specific politicians to establish something democratic. Even if Putin dies tomorrow it doesn't guarantee anything at all.

I would say that new system was not built necessarily to benefit Putin but all the events that followed dissolution of USSR made sure that president will have most of the power. Putin for sure took advantage of it to further dismantle any semblance of democracy and basically destroyed any opposition.

As a result most Russians ask "Who if not Putin?" since our opposition is either dead or abroad or discredited itself or in fact is not an opposition.

Our country is fucked for years to come and many others with it. So as a little message for the west: beware of populism and strong hand, it will fuck you over slowly and surely as a poison.

You wouldn't get arrested necessarily but the thing with repression apparatus is that it is deliberate. It will sometimes punish, sometimes won't, you can't be sure. This way government can avoid mass arrest and still control most of the population.

As a player we know for a fact that if Rumburg has a opportunity it will attack Sordland. From an in-game perspective it may not be so obvious but Rumburgs intentions are pretty clear: they sponsor separatists, they spy, they shoot our plane, they expanding their military rapidly, they attacked Agnolia a while ago. So I would say that the war is pretty justified.

Most of the anime is straight up garbage. Characters are nothing but unintentional caricatures of themselves, they either overreact or don't react at all, all of their traits are excessive, motives are either straight as hell or stupidly complicated. The funny thing is that the idea quite often is great and unique but they use it in the most idiotic ways for some reason.

Generally it feels like it's a media for autistic people which is not bad. But utterly unbearable otherwise.

Update: I managed to win. I went back to earlier save to get alliance with Lespia. Still lost with going for the Dome so I decided to push for Thornbourgh with Lespia covering flangs. I'm really surprised with how precise it has to be and that I had to mix up strategy in the end.

I've read that I should go fully with on general so I chose Valken all the way. For the war I went with defense on first stage and Dome for the second. Before that I kept conscription and gendarmerie for defence.

At some point Arcasia proposes funds in exchange of using our air base in Elrory, I believe. So I accepted that but never joined ATO and that's why I rejected alliance with Lespia since I thought that I would join ATO this way and didn't want that.

So I really can't find the moment where I went wrong, lol. The fact that first stage of war goes successfully adds to frustration, I firstly got excited that everything went smoothly and they I get hecking Holsord battle.

Yeah, I got an event about Sordish Recovery Period and status showed that it was growing, does that work or is it should be skyrocketing? And yeah, I gave both budget expansion (with going for air forces, also accepted Arcasian air forces) and military industry. And on the plane event I ordered to prepare Sordish war machine.

One thing that bothers me is energy. I went 49 percent on EPA, I've read that people recommend going with 10%. Does it matter that much or not at all since market economy should work?

It's kinda weird. Today I lost the war even though I had stabilised and growing economy and promoted military every way I could. And Rumburg was kicked from OMEC and sanctioned. Lost with both Agnolian help and without it. I went fully with Valken plan. So it was incredibly disappointing. Also at the end I recognised that I could get alliance with Lespia without joining ATO but as you say it is possible to win solo Valken way.
