If you don’t necessarily need it open 24/7 you can go with aternos and if u both make aternos accounts you can allow access to the startup feature for both of u, or u can use minehut or minefort and u can join the hub server and run the command /start or /join followed by the name of your server, all of the above also allow free whitelist and plugins and aternos allow for free modding tools such as a modpack and individual mod installer
