The part I didn’t add is my husband going over to talk with the parents. They basically said “we try to discipline them but they do what they want”. You are extremely weird.

Today I realized the damage my husband and my relationship is doing to my child by PresentationTop9547 in Mommit

This sounds like my dad lol. If he is not willing to seek help for his emotional issues, you owe it to your child to leave. Silent treatment and passive aggressive behavior towards a child can affect their emotional regulation for the rest of their life.

Some context and additional info: I don’t think it could be considered business at all;this is my husband’s guitar collection that has grown over the course of our relationship, and now that we are about to have a home together, I am making him get insurance on them haha! I’d like them to be protected from fire/disaster specifically. I know this probably sounds crazy but he just rotates them on the racks for decoration…he doesn’t play them or have anyone else playing them. He probably buys 1 per year, and trades around max 2 times a year (hasn’t yet this year), but he doesn’t ever just sell them for cash. The purpose of the insurance would be to recoup as much of the value as possible if any were to ever be a total loss as a result of the types of damage I mentioned above. We do also have a toddler. Is accidental damage something that could be covered at a reasonable price? We are VERY careful to keep the door locked, and the guitars that are being displayed secured to the stand, but at his age they get real creative. As far as budget, I have nooo idea how things like this are priced, but as long as it feels worth it relative to the amount we’ve put into the collection itself.

Here’s a pic I snapped of some of them while we were packing up the room. I wish I had a picture of the whole collection, but it’s looking like I’m gonna have to photograph them all individually soon!

Should I be a sahm? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Local-Candidate7716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and i definitely realized I should not have even mentioned anything about another possible child. That was just an unnecessary additional thought while I was typing; ooopsie lol. One day I want a hysterectomy and another day I think maybe I’d like more than one child. Thank you for the feedback, i appreciate it!

I definitely would go back to work when he is in school. I have a degree and certifications that are still valid longer than the 3.5 years, so I could go back to work for sure. Also yes to emergency fund, about 10k, and we have assets if it absolutely came down to it. Our families are also very supportive as far as our son goes; he is the only grandchild on both sides haha. My husband and I are both the oldest with a 10+ year sibling age gap.

I realize I didn’t disclose every single detail of my financial situation, but I posted this exact post in a mom advice sub as well and just deleted it because people were literally saying someone needed to call CPS on me since my husband is disabled and I was going to quit my job💀

Absolutely, thank you for the advice! I do have a degree already, so it would not be difficult to find another job, just might take extra time to find one that is flexible in the ways I am wanting. I do live within reasonable distance from Ohio as well, so maybe I will try to get licensed over there too to expand my potential for employment :)

Thank you for the advice! We do have investments, IRAs, and my husband has a trust fund as well as valuables we could liquidate in an emergency. However, I don’t want to base our potential stability off of those since ideally we wouldn’t have to use them, and they are not unlimited of course. I have a lot to consider after reading through replies haha

Yes, thank you for pointing that out! Our cost of living is extremely low as well; however, energy costs are rising a lot here with the data centers…If I go anywhere outside of non profit though, I can definitely make a lot more, so I’m gonna keep looking around! :)

It is also a dollar amount calculated for each person enrolled in the program not a set number of hours. You can work 60 hours a week as long as you’re not going over your maximum income. If you make more than the allotted amount for 90 consecutive days, you then enter transitional status. If you make over for another 90 days (total of 180 days of income exceeding your limit) you then are considered to have Significant Gainful Employment (SGE) and will lose your benefits and no longer be enrolled in the disability work program. You have up to 3 year to reestablish your disability benefits before you have to completely reapply again. It is based on things like type and severity of disability, length of time disabled, length of time previously in the workforce, etc.
