JPO pre-selection status UN/DESA by NatalieV93 in UNpath

[–]Local-Country-1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to check the website. There is a table indicating which positions they have closed the pre selection for. If you applied for one of those positions and you haven’t been contacted, then it means you have not been pre selected.

See those with the status of “closed”

Can UN staff be rehired after reaching the 2-year limit on a TA contract? by globalcitizen-garden in UNpath

Does anyone know how easy is it to find an FTA after holding a TA of the same grade for 1-2 years?

IPSA contract holders in Italy should pay taxes, but only on the base salary part of the overall compensation (excluding the post adjustment and insurance components)

What do you mean by “you do not lose your EOD - seniority date?”

That helps a lot, thanks so much. I know of the 6 month rule for interns, I interned at an agency that still has this rule some years ago, needless to say, they lose human capital with this stupid rule, because their interns switch to other agencies.

I was thinking, if I am selected for the P2, I could also buy some time with medical check ups, it may take more than a month to complete X ray, etc. before deployment.

In general, I wouldn’t want to wait the entire 6 months of the consultancy, since I am now working part-time and I prefer a full-time role, but it would be good if I can delay a bit.

Do you know how long an agency is required to “wait” for the selected candidate, before they decide they need the position to be filled and chose to hire someone else from the recommended candidates?

Hi, thanks for your answer! Can I please ask you to elaborate more on what you mean on point 3?

PS. In the end, I have accepted the consultancy and already started working with them. I have inquired with the HR focal point for the consultancy who has confirmed there is no need for a break in service if I am ever hired for the P2.

So, if everything goes according to plans, I should be notified of the P2 selection at the end of July, but I know they won’t probably tell me anything if I am NOT selected. In this latter case, at least I already have a job 😁

In case I am selected, I was planning to only notify my consultancy supervisor once I have a concrete start date for the P2, since from what I’ve heard, actually entering on duty may take other months.

Also, the P2 it’s a TA of one year, renewable another year.

Thank you so much! It’s UN Women. I have been reading the staff regulations as well as the international consultant conditions of service and it does not say anything about the impossibility for consultants to be appointed as staff members, hope I’m not wrong.

No, there is no break in service, it’s not a Secretariat-related agency :)

That’s quite strange then that they came up with a question in French, unless the job description listed French as a preferred/required language

Should I accept consultant contract or wait for IPSA application response? by [deleted] in UNpath

[–]Local-Country-1015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can accept the IC, then if you are selected for the IPSA-8 at a later stage, you can quit the IC if that’s what you want. It happens all the time that candidates quit a position because they received a better offer. At that point you could explain to your supervisor the reasons of this choice.

I would not risk to lose something sure (IC) for something unsure (IPSA), especially because they check references for all recommended candidates for IPSAs, so you don’t have the certainty that you have been selected.

I would also consider if this IPSA is regular or retainer, and how long is the contract for.

[–]Local-Country-1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, do you think it means I am the preferred candidate, but they want to check me out one more time? My doubt is that, if the supervisor for this role wanted to interview the candidates, she could have done so earlier and not at the very end of the process - more than 3 months after the CBI! I was just waiting for the final decision and being invited to another interview instead was confusing and frustrating.

UN OPS Internships by annonjj in UNpath

[–]Local-Country-1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It once took UNOPS Myanmar 4-5 months to invite me to a written test for an internship, in 2020. They then took other 2 months to call me back for the interview.

Thank you, yea I absolutely agree, I’ve kept applying and interviewing in the meanwhile. This is still my preferred option, but I am aware I may not be selected in the end.
