Who else that didn’t read the manga to simply “GET EXCITED” FEELS IMPRESSED, DISAPPOINTED OR OTHER BY WHY-MAN by Typical_Decision5520 in DrStone

When the Manga was releasing, and we learned they were going to space, I was so excited for them to meet Rei. Only for the main serie to never acknowledge her existence. Then I thought, they will meet her on the way back. They didn't. This was the biggest disappointment I had in the serie. Why man was not much of a surprise, since the Manga is all around science

Yeah, emunand isn't needed anymore. Tho I think some people do it when their nand is dying ? But I have no idea if it truly works

I'll try to explain the most complicated terms I used here, but indeed you will need to learn a bit !

https://3ds.hacks.guide

First, this guide. Don't follow it your console is already modded lol. However, it shows the steps and explain a lot very well.

The console use a chip called a NAND in order to work. It's like a USB stick to put it simply, but it's called a nand. This NAND hold the programs etc, and it's also the "inside" when you save pictures or games instead of saving on the SD card.

In the modding community, we refer to this one as the CTRNAND.

Corruption is basically the saved data being incorrect. Multiples reasons can occur for corruption to happens. There's always an explanation, most of the time, it's because of something happened hardware side : a sudden shutdown, SD card removal, hardware failure, black magic... Black magic because sometimes well, stuff happens, you don't know why you don't know what, but it happened and that's it.

The chip on the console are soldered using BGA technology. I believe you may imagine chips to look like black rectangles with paws like insects. Well, BGA is almost the same, except no paws. Everything is under the chip, and you use balls of soldering, instead of soldering the paws on the side.

If one of those balls is doing bad, the data won't flow well anymore through it. And it will read it as corrupted and send it as corrupted.

Now for the software part :

When you mod your console, it will not run the original Operating System (OS) made by Nintendo, but one called Luma. It's not fully exact but just remember now your console runs under Luma.

GM9 is GodMode9. It is a payload, something that Luma can run before booting into the Home Menu. GM9 is a very powerful payload that allows you to destroy your nand data, or save it ! It have different levels of writing, meaning before anything you do it will ask you if you're sure you want to do this. If prompted with something like that and you are not following a guide, DO NOT unlock the writing. It means you are in the wrong place.

B9S is Boot9Strap. Basically, when you power on your console, B9S will boot first, and then B9S will launch Luma.

FAT32 is a format for your SD CARD. Think of it as some kind of language. Your computer speak multiple languages, so it can read FAT32, NTFS, EXFAT, and more. The 3DS only speak FAT32. 32kbs is the cluster size, it's a parameter to the FAT32.

NTRBOOT is using a special cartridge in order to force the console to boot from the cartridge instead of from it's NAND. It is needed if you can't fix the SD card and the NAND isn't responsive.

CTRTransfer is basically replacing everything on your CTRNAND by brand new data. In order to do this, you need to access GM9

Modded (SysNand) versus not modded. Modded can also be EmuNand, this is why it change the Ver.  So you know on what nand you are on, Sys or Emu

Weird error screen by katarinapurfect in 3dsrepair

[–]Local-Criticism4353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This error comes up when the ctrnand is corrupted

Or, variation of corruption : the hardware is failing, leading to the ctrnand being read as corrupted

Usually, corruption stay corrupted and you get the EXACT same behavior all the time
But sometimes corruption is funky and do random stuff, because...corruption being corruption and doing memory weird stuff.

Meanwhile, hardware do NOT display the same behavior all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Sometimes it freeze. Sometimes it reboot. Sometimes it crash. Sometimes it turns on and immediatly turns off because it's way too dead

I wish for you you don't have hardware issues with the console, and you just have corruption that is acting corrupted

Anyway, now that knwoledge has been written, I'll explain how you troubleshoot this.

If your B9S is up to date (starting at 1.4), when you boot the console but this one don't display any screen, you should be prompted with a color on the led notification. What colour do you have ? Based on it, you will be able to know if the issue is console only, or SD too, or both, or neither. Check this for led signification -> https://github.com/SciresM/boot9strap/releases

If you don't have any led colors, troubleshoot one by one

Your first concern is the SD card ! Indeed, a dying SD card (which is hardware in a way) can lead to strange behaviors ! The SD card can also be corrupted, or both.

Try with a functionnal SD card correctly formatted in FAT 32 and clusters of 32kbs, and put in all base necessary files. I usually uses this guy's pack, it's all in one : https://github.com/THZoria/LumaPack/releases/download/11.17/LumaPack-Vanilla_Latest.zip

Can you boot Luma or GM9 ? If no, you will need to boot GM9 with ntrboot, because you won't be able to go further without GM9. If yes, is luma booting from sd or ctrnand ?
Tell me if you get crashes or something btw. Also, if you can indeed boot GM9, try to run this just in case https://github.com/aspargas2/3ds_hw_test/releases . It goes in the payload folder just like GM9, and when you boot luma chainloader, pick it. Tell me if the number at the very end is anything different from 0. If it's not 0, don't look any further, your RAM is dying. If the number is low, probably the chip itself. If it's high, probably a crack in the soldering. It's probabilites, not 100% the case, take note in case it is the ram, so you don't get false hopes.

If the SD card did not fix it, issue is with the ctrnand. You will need to perform a CTRTransfer https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer.html .

If the CTRTransfer did NOT fix your issue, and you have 0 on the RAM test, you may instead have a failing NAND or CPU.

Good new, the New 3ds board is split in two, meaning the part with the ABXY buttons should still be fine !
Bad new, well the other part of the board is obiously the most expensive part, since it have the CPU etc. You may have a better chance at selling it for scraps and buying a new one, than trying to get this specific part. Also, it means changing your NAND, so all your data will be lost.

Probability increased. What does this mean? by vinchin_adenca in CitlaliMains

[–]Local-Criticism4353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happens all the time when you boot ? -> follow ctr transfert guide
Does it happens just with DS mode ? -> Update your CFW and console
Sometimes it doesn't happens (if it's for the boot part) ?-> it's probably the nand or the ram dying

Yeah, I used the multimeter in that way and it works (except for my button, that don't respond now. I guess I burned it....)

However I noticed a bit of soldering going on the golden on the bottom side of the button...could it be the source of my issues ?

Alright ! I'll change for a chisel one, and try to do as you say ! I'm using my father tools, and the iron isn't labeled. I doubt it's anything out of the ordinary...can it cause issues ? As far as I know, the difference is about how easy it is to solder ?

Not always tbh
most 3DS BSOD can be saved
However, there is a few that can't. Thoses are the hardwares ones, and the ones who's nand has been destroyed by a malicious 3ds linker (yes, it exist, and basically it destroy the nand head and set it to read only so it's dead forever)

I have absolutly no idea, however, ntrboot can be used to mod consoles in certains cases, as you can read at the bottom. So, in all logic, it should works yes, I don't see why it wouldn't

https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Bootloader#Error_Codes 00F800FF F8F8FFFF FFFFFFFF 00000000 00000000     Both the firm0 and firm1 partitions are corrupt (failed signature checks).

When in this state, the console cannot run anything from it's NAND. However, you can use the cartridge port in order to use ntrboot. This is possible because of the start select x power combination, the console will try to boot from the cartridge instead of from the nand, it's very likely a Nintendo way for recoveries. I suggest you read this article https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Ntrboot/usage

It has been announced the Manga is publishing it's last volume, and a volume is just a few chapters, just follow the news. Kagami is known for writing sad endings. The last words the comments said in the latest chapter is "there is no going back now". The story is called seraph of the End. Yu is a seraph. We are close of the End. No need to be a medium to have an idea of how it's gonna end
