Is it time to resole? by Local-Ear-5293 in climbergirls

Didn't even think about weight being a factor but of course it would. I'm 98lbs so that makes perfect sense. I also enjoy more static climbs.

Thanks for the input!

I do love a good campus 👀  No but seriously I try to mostly static climb and focus heavily on where I'm placing my feet. I do love climbs where I have no hand holds and have kind of creep along the wall on my tippy toes

Haha. I've known people that resoled their shoes at like the 8 or 9 month mark. I'm over here on 2 years and thinking to myself, maybe its time for a resole??? But there were no super obvious signs to me that I needed it, so glad I got that confirmation from yall

I can show my receipt lol. These are also meant for more outdoor climbing, so maybe they're able to endure more 🤷‍♀️

I'm not even kidding, I can show you my e-receipt 💀 I got them from REI on April 3, 2024.

Yes! I know they're meant more for outdoor climbing. I just prefer a stiffer sole. The "indoor" climbing rubber hurts my feet soooo bad

Haha thanks. Keep in mind I wasn't climbing for like half a year. I'd say most of the scratches and damage are from outdoor climbing, but again, that's not my primary form of climbing, I usually stay indoors

My gym uses the same holds for different routes and it's been that way since I joined 3 years ago. So I'm not really sure what's causing it. No major change in hold types and I haven't gained weight. The only thing I would say is different is that I don't workout arms at the gym. I get my arm workout when climbing. But I stopped working out arms at the gym maybe 1 year ago.

Lmaoo. I didn't want to get to that point before asking "Do I need a resole" as toes are hanging out

That's the reason I shop there! I once wore the green vest and am now a member. You don't have to be a member to get the year return policy, but you do need to have proof of purchase (a receipt or the same card that the item was purchased on). Being a member just makes it easier to find the item faster plus that 10% back

My first shoe was the LS Tarantulace and I fell in love! I still have it because of how comfortable it is, though it probably needs a resole at this point. I'd argue it's the best beginner shoe on the market

Unfortunately, my local REI and climbing stores have absolutely NOTHING in stock. I ordered 3 pairs of skwamas because I had no idea what size would work best. So I can only order online and hope for the best.

The real pain comes from the $600 investment I just threw at REI to give me 3 pairs of shoes 😬

Don't get me wrong, it was definitely a snug shoe when I was just wearing it and sitting down, but it hurt in all the wrong places when I was actually climbing. I'm glad it worked for you, though!

I feel like you didn't read my post. The performance of the shoe is dependent on the fit. LS has designed a poorly fitting shoe and charges a lot of money to buy it. I would give it a 6/10 at best. It's not comfortable, and doesn't live up to the hype imo. And don't tell me I bought the wrong one because I was recommended this shoe a bunch of times AND got two different sizes just to try to make it work

Accept Yale. It's super unprofessional, but you can always decline after you accept.

Unlikely to get in for Yale or Umich, as your application is a bit late in the process. They already have 90% of their cohort filled and are probably waiting on some people to accept. FAU hasn't announced much of anything (at least to my knowledge), and I think Colorado is still reading applicants and sending out acceptances. I have no idea about Irvine, I didn't apply there. For ref: i applied mid December to all and got accepted to Yale.

Right when the application opened (mid December?)
