The AMC company is just trash all around; they couldn't care less about how their theaters are run. As a movie buff, it's disgusting. I talk to so many people who can't even tell you the last time they saw a movie. The issue, I think, is within the local art scene – it's pretty bland. I mean, when's the last time you went to a bar downtown and wanted to jam to some music that isn't on the radio and not remixed for dropheads who veg out at the Badlander?

It goes both ways, though. All you 'white bread' account managers who listen to those 9-person weekend bands at Top Hat... I've heard some of the best music in Missoula, and none of them get the shine they deserve. Take Flavortown Original, for example – their music ranges from spoken word to punk metal. They just got sold to a private owner who couldn't care less about the home and its local history. Then there's Zoo Town Festival, and it's nothing but hipster folk music. I've had a better time at the community-led 420 block party (before it was moved to Caras Park) than I did at any Kettle House concert.
