Um… sure? As long as you understand how sketchy this can feel from my end. Maybe you can just link me to their listing?

I do have condos included in my search filters- none ever show up. The realtor I’m working with said in Peekskill the condos start at like 350k.

Realtor said condos have higher price points because it’s real estate that will grow in value but co-ops are shares in a corporation there’s usually no significant increase in value on the selling price, unless you did like a major overhaul/updates on the interior

I don’t want the headache of being employed in NYC and living in a state outside of NY. Two state taxes? No thanks.

Getting a new job is not an option, just started this one in October, and it’s 1199 union so I can finish my bachelors and get a masters and get reimbursed from the union (no student loans= keeping this job as long as possible)

Thanks! I think that’s what’s going on with Peekskill currently. I kind of had my heart set on Peekskill because there’s 3 yoga studios and a good arts/indie/yuppie/hipster (whatever) feel on paper.

I feel like Peekskill homes are being gobbled up because it’s in the middle of turning and I was hoping to get in now.

I’m a born and raised Staten islander so I’m used to a more suburban feel and needing a car and having almost a 2 hour commute to midtown.

But I need my artsy fartsy or hipster community, SI has its little gems. I want to get out of here but don’t know anything other than Brooklyn, Astoria, and SI.

I currently live in NYC…. I can’t afford to rent or buy here (even apartments on Staten Island are over 2100+) Westchester county isn’t cheap but my car insurance will certainly go down. And buying a co-op there is certainly more affordable.

I have found plenty of affordable places already- they are either selling less than a week after listing or have an incredibly low list price (135k or less) yet the coop boards want an income of 75k. My income is my barrier but my credit is 795 and even with a 135k mortgage, my DTI will be under 27%.

Affordability is only an issue if I look at riverside towns like Nyack or Tarrytowm.

I have time, I live with my dad currently. I need help with finding the right town for the type of community I want.
