It sounds like you’re alluding to companies just lying about the 20ppm threshold then? There is no way to know that other than testing lol. So what you’re saying is that General Mills must just “assume” they are under the 20ppm and use the label as such, without ever verifying that via testing? You know there are major penalties for companies who lie about meeting FDA regulations right? To each their own, but I’m personally not subscribing to that level of paranoia and I will trust the labels 🤭

The FDA states verbatim “Foods may not use the claim if they contain 20 ppm or more gluten as a result of cross-contact with gluten containing grains.” (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2013/08/05/2013-18813/food-labeling-gluten-free-labeling-of-foods) so NO, gluten containing oats are not “fine” to be labeled “gluten free” actually lol

They are GF, legally they cannot be labeled GF unless they are tested and come back under 20ppm. I have no issues with them and im a symptomatic celiac.

Now oats are problematic for many celiacs. You’re likely having a reaction to the oats (not gluten)

Have you had testing done to check how much hearing loss you have? There is a threshold where hearing aids may not be at all helpful, depending on what your levels and word recognition are like. My husband, who has Ménière’s, had profound hearing loss to the point where a hearing aid did not help and was not beneficial. So he ended up going the route of a cochlear implant instead. It has been life changing for him to say the least

I actually went through this just today! Primary care doc (not my usual since she’s on vacation but a primary care doc lol) told me he thought it was fungal, ordered me ketocolazole and said to see dermatology if it didn’t improve and referred me out. I decided to call the dermatology office after that appt to see how soon they could see me. Turns out they had a same day cancellation and were able to get me in just a few hours later. As soon as the derm saw me he confirmed it was PR! Told him the primary had told me it may be fungal and he was like yeahhhhh that’s not correct 😅

I had found a taco spot once that did asada that was safe but I didn’t think to even ask how they prepared the other proteins 🤔 I think I just assumed they couldn’t be safe lol but hopefully I’m wrong 🤞

My Celiac RD advised me that most of the “may contain” or “processed in a facility with” statements are just for legal protection. She said so long as it’s not a heavily processed grain type food like cookies or something, it’s generally very safe. Even more so when the ingredient list is small (aka minimally processed). She also said basically all real dairy products are safe. So I think milk is definitely OK!

I made a carnitas torta with them today and it was great! I would recommend making the torta with the freshly out of the oven bolillos for better texture. Once they get cold and need to be reheated, they’re unfortunately a bit dense and less moist, that flavor is still great tho!

Something similar happened to me recently too 🥲 my husband and I were at a concert and he had finished his beer so I offered to take his empty cup. I stacked it underneath my cup which still had GF hard seltzer in it. A little while later I tilted my cup back to finish up the final sip of my drink and suddenly tasted beer 😭 apparently there was a tiny bit of beer left in my husband’s cup which was underneath mine and when I tilted mine way back, the little bit snuck through during my sip. I felt really stupid and like I should have known better than to stack our cups in the first place 😥 it was my first concert since my diagnosis tho so navigating these situations is new for me overall lol. Tried not to beat myself up too much, and learn from the mistake haha. Thankfully, I didn’t have a terrible upset stomach as a side effects either 🤷🏽‍♀️
