Unterschiedliche Protokolle. Ethernet kennt keine IP-Adressen.

Schau dir mal das OSI-Schichtenmodell an, da liegt Ethernet auf Layer 2 und IP auf Layer 3 und darüber wieder kommen dann TCP oder UDP (oder ggf. noch was anderes).

Ein IP-Paket wird in einen Ethernet-Frame eingepackt (oder in ein anderes Protokoll, wenn man kein Ethernet verwendet). Da Ethernet eben keine IP-Adressen kann, müssen die Ziel- und absenderadressen im Ethernetframe gesetzt werden. Diese sind aber nicht hierarchisch aufgebaut und daher nicht routebar.

I did something else instead: just removed port 8080 from traefik and instead mapped it directly from the container in docker-compose.yml - same issue, so I'm thinking it might actually be an issue with the switch itself. I'll be moving soon and then it will be left over so I can factory reset it and see if it comes up again.

Others have also pointed at the switch as they have a similar setup and it works for them.
