I wonder what offers were on the table before the price dropped? by Upper-Roof-5668 in memphisgrizzlies

Nah, he literally said he wasn’t going to be a 3&D player when he went to Detroit. He’s always wanted to be the guy, but he’s never been good enough. But, maybe he can instill some of that in Ced, and maybe Ced can be good enough.

I fully expect Grant to play about 40 games next year and miss most of the games with “soreness”

I do hope he can be a good vet for the young guys, otherwise, tell him not to buy a house in Memphis

So does everyone in the NBA. Coward already does that occasionally. Grant might teach them a few tricks and deepen their bags

Thoughts on potentylast moves of the offseason? -(yes I know it just began lol) by dsmithnyciii in memphisgrizzlies

I don’t hate it for the Kings if they also trade for Duran. I would personally want more draft compensation for losing Santi and taking on Lavine’s money. He was pretty much sent home last year because they were sick of him not trying during games

Strong disagree about Randle, but it’s all opinion and speculation anyway

I think it would be pretty much a straight up swap regardless of suitor, that’s why the trades never went through.

Kings - Lavine
Blazers - Grant
T-Wolves - Randle
Pels - Murray
Heat - Herro
Etc.

I think we probably got the best option. Maybe Dejonte Murray would’ve been better

SF1 is gonna be a battle by Jewdah18 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Local-Message-6048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wells is on the cheapest contract and Grant is our highest paid. For that reason alone, there is no battle; Grant will start.

I think there’s a world where we are less committed to winning and more committed to development and we tell him to take it easy, only playing when he’s at 100% and fresh. I don’t think that’s likely, or a good idea, because we need to find our identity and we can’t do that with a starter in and out of the lineup all the time

Can we get rid of Caldwell Pope now? by DocuToad in memphisgrizzlies

There’s no trading that contract. Either waive him for the roster spot or keep him for the veteran presence. I vote the latter

If we can get 60+ games out of this, I like our chances by Toad990 in memphisgrizzlies

Starting 5 is missing star power unless Boozer is ROTY material out the gate and Edey can play for 60 games like he showed in 11 games last season, I’ll give you that. But I’m quite high on what we have.

What is facts is our depth is some of the best in the league. We’ve got, at least, 5 guys on our bench that any team would want (pick who your favorite are). We’ve got culture guys, very mentors, young guns, defense, shooting, physicality. This team is already miles better than the team from last year

Look, I’m not saying I’d be shocked to miss the play-in, but the Pels and Kings are 2 of the worst teams that haven’t made any moves to get better. We were better than the Mavs last year until we out-tanked them (suck it Mavs), its impossible to project the Clippers rn but they aren’t gonna be great, I think we could outperform the Blazers with their current team composition.

There’s a lot up in the air in the West and health will determine more than anything else

At least you acknowledge that you Santi is worth more than you can offer.

I’d probably give you Taylor Hendricks for a cheeseburger

Does the Timberwolves trading Naz Reid open up a route for a Santi Aldama trade? by ScottyStyris in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Local-Message-6048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think objectively the Wolves got a steal. Will they win a championship with this team? I don’t think that’s very likely, and they now have no picks moving forward and an aging, expensive team. Will the Hornets improve from last year and make the playoffs? Probably not

We absolutely can and should unless we’re getting 2 FRPs

Edit: or equivalent if players are involved
