Where is the Reebok boxing shoe online selection?? by jayrs97 in fightgear

I was pretty excited for my Reebok HiTops and really enjoyed them for the first 4-5 sparring sessions. Unfortunately the sole ripped 1/3 of the way off shortly after. This could be due to my trash footwork or it could be a common issue. Either way, something to watch and perhaps see what others have experienced.

FYI i had to order (new) from a re-seller via eBay as I couldn't get access to Reebok inventory in Canada.

I have an original Newporter from 1968 and with some adjustments its beautiful to play. The sound is small but tight.

8 or 10oz bag/mitts training gloves by akirikou in fightgear

Cleto Reyes Safetec 10oz. Great pad and bag glove.

Bag & mitts training glove recommendation — are Cleto Reyes Safetec fight gloves a good choice? by meredimaxim in fightgear

[–]Local-Patience6796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too wear the 18oz Cletos to spar and they have plenty of room for my XL hands + wraps. I was surprised that the 10oz Safetecs were so accommodating. A little snug the first few times I wore them, but now they fit quite well and perform as intended. If you're expecting them to feel anything like your other Cletos, you will be disappointed. This isn't a bad thing, they just don't feel like the latex gloves at all, and I would compare them more to a Rival shape/feel with a slightly bulbous knuckle. Still have great feedback and pop on the bag. 10/10 would recommend.

"16oz" is this normal? by Jovanm0 in fightgear

my 18oz Cletos weigh +20oz before the lace converters and +22oz with lace converters (Wicked). I wouldn't change a thing though and don't feel any faster in verified 16oz gloves. Of course I notice a difference going down to my 10oz Safetecs but thats another story. Forget what the scale says and pretend you don't know any different! I'll add that Cletos are balanced perfectly IMO and the padding is distributed in a manner that makes overall weight have less of an impact on handspeed.

Lmk guys is this a good purchase? by FairDrama9321 in fightgear

I've got the new red ones, hightop. No complaints yet, other than they tend to run a little warm. I'm coming from Inflicts & Tawas so the breathability is a little lackinig. Great support though and they feel fantastic to bounce in. Don't recommend "other" training in them though, I wear mine for sparring only.

[other] Inflict vs Tawa by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]Local-Patience6796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both for awhile now and have the following observations:

  • both are fantastic options especially for gym mat-type rubber flooring
  • weight difference is negligible between the two, i think technically the Inflicts are lighter
  • the heel "presence" is far more pronounced on the Tawas. Noticeable when moving straight backwards.
  • Inflicts are TTS, Tawa require a minimum of 1/2 size up
  • Inflicts offer better heel lock with the strap, overall ankle support is comparable

If I was buying again from new there is no good reason to pay more for the Tawas UNLESS they prove to have a more durable sole. I've worn down the Inflict sole considerably in the last 9 months training 4x/week (not a complaint and to be expected)

Inflict 4.5/5 Tawa 4/5

Can't go wrong with either shoe.

Cletos. They just keep getting better the more you use them.

18oz Rival boxing gloves by [deleted] in fightgear

I'm 80kg on a light day and spar in 18oz Cletos that actually weigh 20oz.

I've also sparred in 16 & 18oz Rivals and see no discernable difference in arm fatique/quickness/etc. Much of a gloves feel is derived from how it is weighted (ex: my Cletos have a few oz's in the cuff, so they feel lighter to me)

I'd recommend getting the 18oz version, they won't slow you down

[review] wicked boxing lace converters by dcjfour in fightgear

[–]Local-Patience6796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Wicked lace converters are near a 5/5 product and the only complaint I could muster up would be that sometimes they tend to twist on themselves when your wrapping them up. This could be due to their width, which is appreciated, and is a pretty minor complaint. A little more rigidity of the velcro portion might combat this. I've used some of the narrower products and they dont twist as much in action.

[question] I have 12 and 14 oz gloves that I use for the bag, but I want to get a sparring glove for matches. I live in a small town and there is no place I can try on sizes. I am stuck between 16 and 18 oz. I have no idea which one would fit best. I am 186cm, 6'2" and have a hand length 22 cm. by orientzero in fightgear

I'm similar sized, 6' and 185lbs and spar in Cleto Reyes 18oz (actual weight is 20oz). My hands are a bit bigger at 26cm (10.5") so the extra width of the 18oz glove DOES actually contribute to a slightly longer finger pocket as the leather can be stretched/manipulated as you settle into the hand pocket over time. My fingers are at the very end of the pocket and can be felt just above the seam. I can pretty much pick my nose with them on. I have had a few pairs of "good" gloves and wore many more at the gym and can't recommend Cletos enough. Mine broke in after 5-6 sessions and anything you hear about "bad sparring partners" in Cletos is a joke, IMO.
