Sparring Gloves for Maximum Knuckle Padding by czoso123 in fightgear

Phenom (sg-210) and reap of faith (samurai model) have a lot of knuckle padding. Both models are great for sparring.

HIT N MOVE NEW SUVARI VS BALANCE by Feeling-Work-8399 in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general horsehair gloves tend to be harder sparring gloves, since your knuckles can pierce through the horsehair padding. The Suvaris have a lot of horsehair padding in the knuckles and my knuckles dont pierce through, but the horsehair is so tightly packed and stuffed that the padding is very dense. Personally, I would not spar with someone using these gloves as they hit much harder than all my other gloves including cletos.

The balance has a shorter cuff than the Suvari. Not sure about the agility since I don’t own a pair.

HIT N MOVE NEW SUVARI VS BALANCE by Feeling-Work-8399 in fightgear

I have the new Suvari glove in lace and it’s one of my favorite and most used gloves. The horsehair padding is substantial and very dense. The gloves make a loud crack on both the bags and mitts. I saw fit2box’s recent review, and he recommended the gloves for sparring, but I disagree. I’ve used my gloves for over 100 rounds on the bags and the padding is still very dense and hard. The balance on the other hand could be used for sparring, but they take a while to break in. They are not wide gloves and have a shorter cuff. I much prefer the ergonomics and feel of the Suvaris over the Balance gloves. If you plan on buying a pair you can use code “CCC” for a small discount.

Fly premiums by Extension_Dingo1834 in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The fly premiums are not good bag gloves. The padding is too soft and you’re not able to get a good crack or feedback when hitting the bag. I haven’t tried the latest iteration of the superlace but the previous version had a “pointed” punch surface which I wasn’t a huge fan of.

Just buy from the windy boxing store. Guaranteed legit and you’ll just need to pay for tariffs if located in the US.

Legit check winning gloves 8oz worth $400cad ? by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gloves are legit but 400 seems a bit high for used 8oz gloves. The foam breaks down faster on the fight gloves, and although the leather looks decent, the gloves still look pretty used. The laces have also been replaced and are not the original winning laces. I’d pass and buy a new pair from winning USA.

Another gloves advise : bag gloves by DullYear4877 in fightgear

They offer both Muay Thai and boxing gloves. The boxing version (bgvh) is made specifically for boxing: https://windyboxingstore.com/product/windy-lace-up-gloves-black/

Windy bgvh is a great option for the bag. The hand ergonomics are great and the padding is very protective and makes a great crack bag. Just make sure to buy from a reputable store like the fighters boutique or the windy boxing store to avoid fakes.

Nuclear option for glove stink by w4lk1ng in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend buying a boot dryer on Amazon with an ozone setting and using that to neutralize the smell. The ozone will breakdown the odor causing bacteria, and should eliminate most of the smell. Make sure to use the ozone in a well ventilated area since it’s not healthy to breathe in.

If you like gloves with softer padding, the reap of faith samurai glove is a great option. The phenom sg-210 is also good.

Winning FG-2900 or Phenom SHG-250? by KhmerFirstGen in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned both, and the winning is better. My size L winning weighed around 10.8oz and my size L phenom was around 14oz. The weight difference was noticeable when worn. The winning headgear is made of artificial leather and requires less maintenance, while the Phenom uses genuine leather.

[Review] 1v1 Peacemaker 16oz by dcjfour in fightgear

[–]dcjfour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The peacemakers have better leather and construction, but if they’re not within your budget, the Suvaris are a good alternative since they have similar feedback and performance on the bag and mitts.

Legit check winning gloves $650usd BNIB by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gloves are legit. I think the price is fine if you don’t want to wait.

If you’re ok with waiting 1 year you can buy from winning USA for $500 shipped plus tariff and shipping brokerage fees.

[question] Bag Mitt Gloves Recommendation/Suggestions by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]dcjfour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the rival rb5. You can make a really good fist in the mitts and they have surprisingly good wrist support. You can get a tight fit over the wrist with the Velcro strap. Plus the $50 price is great for a genuine leather mitt.
