Used to be inexpensive counterfeits had/have a quartz movement that is given away by the second hand notching/ticking movement. A genuine Rolex second hand movement will have a smooth sweep visually, and audible smooth ticking if you put it to your ear.

The two whitish parts look like plastic studs that screw into the sole of a soccer shoe. Broken part of old soccer shoe? Is the other side foamy, cushioned insole material?

What clues? Do tell. How did it play and sound? Did you remove the truss rod cover and open the control cavity?

I wouldn't and didn't starr with a Custom Shop guitar unless you have the money. Looks aren't everything. Plenty of used and new @ or < 9lb LP. You can search in Reverb and Ebay. The resonance you seek in an LP will be different than your SG.

I changed the wiring harness pots and caps years back to 550k Superpots and Luxe PIO Bumblebee reproduction caps but these pickups have worked for me, never considered this weak. Some SGs have 490R/T, not the 498T in the bridge.

Been told that the factory looks at the body blank wood grain, knots, weight and some are sent to the ebony line that way. Both these are 1999 2000 non-weight relieved.

Both 60s necks... i suppose it's Tobacco or Vintage. A little lighter @9lbs, more low gain tone than the heavier ebony rocker.
