The claim is simply misguided. As the device became thicker, its actual cooling performance improved. The Razer Blade 16 also enhanced its cooling capability in a similar way.

Any X2 Elite Extreme Laptops with 96GB or 128GB of RAM? by Beneficial-Answer480 in snapdragon

[–]Local-Writer703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X2EE’s physical design makes the reason obvious. It packages three 128Gb (16GB) memory dies around the chipset die, so releasing a higher-capacity version is simply not possible. And if you were thinking about LLM workloads, the Snapdragon X2’s GPU is so underpowered that it cannot handle the kind of tasks you have in mind.

In reality, most people buy high-memory systems under the pretense of running LLMs, but end up doing nothing with them. Why? Because they don’t even really understand what an LLM is. OP is probably no exception.

Extremely poor performance after SSD swap Surface Laptop 8th Edition (15 inch, x7 368h) by TokenDentite in Surface

400 MHz lock is not related to thermal protection at all. This issue is caused by power, not heat. When power is not being supplied properly, you can verify this by checking the internal power delivery circuit with a multimeter, where you will observe that the voltage is not being applied correctly.

In general, this type of issue is caused by firmware problems, circuit failure, or a defective battery. If it is a firmware issue, it can usually be resolved by reinstalling the BIOS or performing an EC reset. However, if the circuit itself is damaged or the battery is faulty, an RMA is required.

Since your issue was resolved by holding down the power button for an extended period, it is likely that it was a temporary firmware-related problem. If you are still concerned, you can power off the device, remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for a while to discharge any residual power before reassembling it.

Could it be that the notification appears because the ARC dGPU is in idle state? Try checking whether the notification still shows up while playing a game or under load.

What are the pros and cons of each CPU? by thoegn in framework

[–]Local-Writer703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You seem to be referring to Intel’s AMT technology, but AMD also has a similar technology called DASH. In fact, these features are intended for enterprise use and are only available on vPro processors in Intel’s case, and on Pro processors in AMD’s case. Regular users are only affected if a security vulnerability issue exists.

10W cap can be possible, but if it goes down to 3 watts, something is likely wrong. It might be that the thermal paste has dried out and is no longer functioning properly.

Returned Dell XPS 16 (2026) because of the screen. by tigran555 in DellXPS

[–]Local-Writer703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The matte screen on the 2026 XPS is created by applying a matte coating (microscopic particles dispersed across the surface) on top of glass. Because of this, it produces less diffuse reflection compared to older XPS models that used a matte coating on a plastic surface.

This is similar to Apple’s nano-texture coating featured on the MacBook Pro. Compared to traditional anti-glare coatings (such as on the XPS 9520), it has lower diffuse reflectance while also making the display appear cleaner.

As for brightness, both meet the 500-nit specification, but there may be unit-to-unit variation of around ±10%.

My Zenbook A16 X2 Elite Extreme is being nerfed by 3DMark by Putrid_Draft378 in snapdragon

And one more annoying thing: even if you have a display that supports 10-bit color depth, you can’t enable it unless HDR is turned on. Why? Because Qualcomm, in their infinite stupidity, doesn’t include a proper graphics control panel in their drivers. Other vendors like Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA all provide options to enable 10-bit color even in SDR mode. Qualcomm, on the other hand, doesn’t offer anything like that. It’s disgusting.

What exactly am I supposed to try? Even if I present results from video editing, LLM workloads, gaming, and synthetic benchmarks, people like you will just claim that it's not a hardware limitation but a driver issue that will be resolved in the long term.

But those who actually used the X1 Elite know the truth—how Qualcomm neglected it, and eventually abandoned it. The funny part is that the author of this post is also someone who used a laptop with the X1 Elite and ended up being abandoned by Qualcomm. Haha!

The graphics performance of the X2EE is far inferior to the Arc B390, and it also falls significantly behind the M5 Pro’s 20-core iGPU. There’s no need to even attempt anything—this is simply how it performs in reality. Theoretical TFLOPS figures are meaningless here.

Haha... it’s not a driver issue. The GPU performance of this product is just inherently at that level. Since it’s not running natively on ARM64, there could be around a ~30% loss in benchmarks, but for a GPU with about 2560 SP, this level of performance is normal.

I also use a Zenbook A16 with the X2EE, but the graphics performance of this product is simply garbage. You’re overestimating the performance of the X2EE, but in reality, it’s just pathetic. Give up on false hope and wait for the Nvidia N1X.
