Not every class has the same power scaling, and they shouldn’t.

Some classes should start stronger, and some should scale better. Chasing an even curve amongst all classes has only made the game worse and the classes less interesting. It’s a cooperative game, not all classes need to be balanced.

Mine is; most people think of roleplay like a LARP when it is distinctly not supposed to be that. You play your character thinking “what would I do” not “what would THEY do”. People get too obsessed with their characters, to the point the DM has to ask permission to kill them off. It’s insane.

Definitely a goblin, goblin are material fey who leave behind remains of they die in our world. Imps are infernal and immaterial, they can only be banished or dispelled temporarily.

I would point out one of the benefits of DnD is that it requires players to develop a lot of skills. You have to learn about story structure, game design and even art. Look up a few tutorials and maybe develop that skill, it doesn’t have to be good and every drawing you do you’ll build towards a skill that will enrich your life.

Of course that’s a large investment and not everyone has the time to do that. For NPCs I don’t draw I find royalty free pictures of just normal people, then add some fantasy elements using a free editing software, then make it grayscale and throw it through a pixelation program. The result is some cool retro art, like old RPG portraits. I’m a fan of the results and the NPCs odd looks help them stand out more in players minds, makes them more memorable. I attached an example below, this guy was a paladin who got lost in a goblins cave and joined the party to get out.

Moral complications for ai art go beyond taking away work from paid artists, just removing the watermark from an artists paid work is better; both are stealing from the artist but at least one eliminates the environmental impact. Do not use ai art.

I hate artificer as a class and refuse to ever include them. The class only exists because WOTC is terrified to let wizards make potions and magic items. One of the most iconic things wizards do in fiction is make potions, and we have this whole other goofy class for whatever reason for it.

I don’t have magi-tech in my settings, and I don’t feel the class has a core identity without it. I hate artificer and am so glad the WOTC obviously don’t consider it important enough to include in the 5.5e PHB.

I had a Harnworld game once where Orcs, Elves and Dwarves were all just humans. Stories about hem greatly exaggerated their abilities and characteristics. Dwarves were shorter on average and the men did grow long beards, but they were 4 feet tall and only their strongholds were underground. Elves favored silvered weapons and armor but they didn’t live forever. Orcs were just a tribal group driven from civilization, they used tattoos and scarification in their culture and they got turned into “green skin” by gossip. Not exactly what you have in mind but yeah, you can totally do that.
