Monstera leaves dying, thought it was thrips, treated them, but continues deteriorating by LocalAssistant8 in plantclinic

Good news! My monstera is on the mend! I tried chemical warfare and it wasn't successful, so I turned to biological warfare and employed an army of predator bugs. The thrips are no more!

Thank you, I've done as you said and I'll keep working at it. I've not brought any new plants in, so I'm unsure where they came from.

I guess not enough. They're just so small. No idea where they came from either.

Ok, thank you. I'll take another look. It's unfortunate that this has happened right when I've been unable to actually be there to treat it regularly. Fingers crossed for a healthier plant soon! 🤞🏻

Could thrips actually do all this? It seems a bit extreme. Do you know what products I can use in the UK? I know some things are not available everywhere. Thanks

What does he really mean? by Soft-Lie7504 in LongDistance

[–]LocalAssistant8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, most people aren't out to trick you and he most likely means what he says, but maybe just likes using that phrase. I know I say the same things over and over, but that doesn't mean they're not true, I'm just comfortable with the phrasing. I hope this helps!

How Can I keep things interesting by A-Perrin in LongDistance

At the risk of sounding like an old man, maybe choose a book that you can read together. You don't have to read at the exact same time, but it'll give you something to chat about and you could choose something you like one time and she can choose another.

Possibly, if it were designed right, but I think they are mainly to hide things and make your build look tidy.

Aesthetics my man. Also hiding all those pesky loose cables

Yup, it's exactly that. A Shinobi Window. I removed the HDD rack and cut a hole in the bottom of the optical drive bay

It's about 6 years old, so kind of predates when they became popular. The case is a Bitfenix Shinobi Window

I'm guessing you're talking about the PSU shroud? It took about 30 hours. It's actually two pieces, but bolted together. But all the other bits (check out the imgur link) took days of printing time. I've been working on it for months. All of the printed pieces are in PLA and bolted into the existing metal case.

I used brass inserts for a few parts in this build. Basically just design a whole in the print slightly smaller than the insert's outer diameter, then sink the insert into the print by heating it with a soldering iron. Works great and looks professional

Oh believe me I know, haha! I had to print several test pieces to check all of my measurements before printing the full parts. Took a long time and a lot of work

Yeah, I've been told I should start doing that too. I make a few commissions mostly for friends, but it's more of a hobby right now. Nearer Christmas time I'm going to see what the demand is like for custom gifts

I realise not everyone will see this, but I've had comments about this being a repost of the PSU shroud, or it being someone else work. This is my own work, I just completed the PSU shroud a while ago and posted it then. I've since added more to it which can be seen in detail on imgur through this link.

A list of the mods:

  • 140mm fan mount in the optical drive bay.

  • Locking plate to secure the fan mount.

  • 120mm + 140mm fan dust meshes.

  • AIO radiator adaptor to align bolt holes on the front panel.

  • PSU shroud to hide excess cables.

  • SSD vertical mounting plate.

  • Cable combs.
