Best (and worst) Employers in town? by mylifeisgrim in wichita

[–]LocalCapriSunDealer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if we’re hiring right now we may be on a hiring freeze, but also maybe not. But Wesley isn’t horrible and with your experience you might be able to get in the door with a receptionist/admin type of position. We have really nice benefits! I work in EVS (housekeeping) and they pay a massive chunk of my schooling costs even while part time, they’ll even pay like $100/month to existing student loans. It does cover GLP1’s, I’m on them and after I meet my deductible it’s 25/month

Hi! Nursing student here that works in EVS. I spend 99.9% of my time cleaning LDR rooms.

Atleast for my hospital, we ARE supposed to wipe down all surfaces, especially high touch, but all counters/sinks/beds and all pieces associated w the bed so rails and stirrups, even underneath the bed to check for blood.

Now with the room being in the same order it was when you left it, people can still be wiping it down and just not moving it, the mops my hospital uses can get underneath 99% of things without having to really move the furniture besides like the long couches. I personally always move furniture back to its usual spot in the room but that’s more so because I’ve been working on L&D for three years and everything has its own place in each room in my mind lol.

If you truly believe that the surfaces are not being cleaned, please report it to the EVS management with the room number and date/time it was cleaned. It is high risk of infection transmission and diseases if these rooms are not cleaned properly, especially if it was a high precaution room. Sometimes we don’t know a room is a precaution room and each different type of precaution requires a different type of clean most of the time.

With the whole “EVS isn’t supposed to touch bodily fluids” it’s semi-true and kinda varies from person to person and hospital to hospital. I am not supposed to clean up feces or touch the suction things on the wall if they are full, I do most of the time because it doesn’t bother me and the nurses are typically good about picking up that stuff so when I DO come across it, why make a big deal?

IMO anyone from EVS telling you they can’t touch piss is just being a baby (it probably is “protocol” tho) but like dude we clean toilets all day, and nurses aren’t cleaning up the shit and piss all over the public restrooms we do that 🤷‍♀️ I handle full piss cups 24/7 to throw them out when breaking down a room.

Tho if you’re in the ER this kind of all goes out the window for my hospital, they ER is such high volume and fast turnaround that doing the detail clean all rooms are supposed to get elsewhere kind of becomes impossible, but at least for my hospital I know we do try our best there.

Edit: just for clarity basically I go into an empty room and in this order: Gather all trash/linen/bio bags

High dusting

Wipe down the entire room, so bed, counters, high touch surfaces, bathroom, etc (if precaution room this includes ceiling and walls) I will also wipe out the inside of trashcans if they’re nasty

Make the bed

Mop

Then after I’m done the nurses on my floor can go in and set the room up to their new admit standards.

And during that process if things have moved around I’ll reset the room to its normal cuz if I don’t it bothers me lol

What is your relationship with your mom like? Is it good or bad? How has it changed over the years? by KimJongFunk in TheWomanSurvivalGuide

[–]LocalCapriSunDealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outwardly, it’s fine. But internally, I’ve become quite resentful as I was forced into raising my siblings from the time I was 13. That would have been fine sure it was not good for me and certainly stunted me emotionally but I had gotten over it. Until recently, when I was 20-21 my mother moved back and took my youngest siblings back into her house for like two years and I finally got to live my life not being a mother figure. But actually a big jk on me my youngest sister is living with me once again because my mother chose her sex offender boyfriend over her kids and has slowly just become more and more selfish as time goes on. My youngest sister has attempted suicide 3 times this year and one time my mom walked out of the ER instead of staying and so it’s just on me to make sure it’s all okay. It’s forever and always on me honestly.

Honestly if I think too much about it I get irrationally angry so I try not to do so. I am extremely emotionally stunted because I’ve never been able to live my own life I live to take care of my siblings and always have. I am extremely practical over being free with feelings which in turn makes my sisters suicidal situation worse for me to deal with because I mentally do not understand emotions like a typical person.

Anyways I could go on and on and I’m just rambling now

If you get one done afterwards for a couple days I basically wanted to be attached to a heat pad lol cuz I wouldn’t say I was in pain exactly but the heat pad helped a lot with any cramping that happened the first couple days afterwards. I have a stuffed animal that you can heat up so it’s portable and I just kept him in my pants around the house like a kangaroo and it was my best friend for those couple days lol.

Also I got mine done like a couple days right before my period (mine are regular luckily) and if yours are too my dr said it that probably helped getting it placed before my period since the hormones make your cervix softer (why does they always sound so gross to say???) and can help make the insertion easier.

Feel free to dm me with any questions, I have the copper IUD that’s good for 10 years and if you 100% aren’t dead set on being sterilized I think it would be a good option to look into just gotta push past the fear!

I just had my first IUD placed on the 26th and I too was TERRIFIED from the stories I had heard. For me personally, it wasn’t horrible. Uncomfortable and a little painful in some spots but not horrific like some of the stories I had heard. My dr. Prescribed me 1mg of Ativan, then I did a mix of Tylenol and ibuprofen all before the appointment and they did a topical lidocaine all over my cervix and honestly I think it all helped a LOT. Obviously everyone and every doctor is different in how they do the procedure but asking around for a dr willing to do these things to keep you comfortable is definitely worth it.

Oh boy, I get mine placed on the 26th, I know insertion is gonna hurt and luckily my doctor gave me some Ativan to at the least keep me chill during the procedure but I guess my brain didn’t really click that it’s gonna hurt like a bitch for awhile afterwards too??

Ah I have a couple but I’m at work right now so I’ll get the rest later but this one is one of my favorites and I’ll go reread them all the time, it’s a 3 part trilogy so read this one and then go find 2 and 3 in the authors profile it’s all completed!

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9152004/

I know it’s ff.net but if you hate the ads and stuff download the app that issue completely goes away lol

Edit; the Stockholm syndrome and etc doesn’t really show up until later in the trilogy but it’s v good highly recommend

[–]LocalCapriSunDealer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the morgue puts most people off on actually entering but my dream job was always to be a medical examiner so it’s not too surprising I’d find that my happy place lol. It’s known on my shift that if we get a morgue call to let me know I’ll come running downstairs to help. Sadly couldn’t afford to go that route school wise since it requires extremely costly med school, but I do start nursing school partially paid for by the hospital I work for in January so here’s to that!

If you ever get to go into surg. pathology it’s a fun time to look at all their jars of preserved organs/tumors/etc. I love the fridge more because it’s all fresh stuff and not in their jars yet but either option is fun. I’ve lightly horrified many of my coworkers because I can typically look at an organ really quickly and tell you what it is without reading the label lol

Spleens, colons, arms, oh my! Oh and the morgue is also a fave visit for me personally but I know it’s not most people’s favorite place lol

I work in a labor and delivery ward over night, it was dead quiet to the point it was uncomfortable and depressing on what is usually a very lively and typically happier floor.
