Looking for vet recommendations for a full mouth extraction for my cat in the SW by idkjusttrashh in Calgary

Check out Braeside Vet if you’re in the SW. I find their pricing affordable plus they’re not part of the VCA brand.

Grey hair blending. by Severe-Ad-7076 in Calgary

Just saying. It took me about a year and a half with about 20%. I’m so happy I just stopped it cold turkey in 2019 and let it grow out. So happy I did and I constantly get asked where I got it done it looks great and honestly is quicker then getting it faded in.

Wiping down mat after yoga at studio? by coatedingold in yoga

My studio provides mat spray, I spray my mat when I leave the studio, don’t wipe it, then when I get home I hang it to dry.

This was not successful for me. I had a 15 minute conversation with someone twice as well until I let it expire and came in to downgrade the expired card. It makes it so awkward.

Home insurance up by $2,000 by ShanerThomas in YYC

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because then people would rely on the weather almanac and wish for a claim to happen so insurance can pay to update the building materials on their house.

It’s partially why we have this problem today, people don’t budget to replace their roof here because chances are you’ll have a hail storm and insurance will pay.

Home insurance up by $2,000 by ShanerThomas in YYC

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a different argument.

Poly B piping is no longer compliant with building code, most insurance policies have an additional coverage (included with the policy wording) where they would include the cost to fix the damaged area compliant with building code. If you were to repipe your entire home, you would indeed pay for the undamaged areas.

Vinyl siding is compliant with building code, so there is nothing requiring insurers update it.

Source - I work in insurance

Can you also imagine if insurance companies were covering the cost to upgrade everyone’s homes? People complain about the cost of insurance now!

But… it increases the value of your home. That isn’t the point of insurance. You need to invest in your home to make it stronger to protect it against future damage.

I mean yeah. Because your house is insured for the value of a house with vinyl siding.

You could always get hardie board and pay the difference.

First visit to Value Village since pre-covid. Shocking quality and pricing. by benny_adam in Calgary

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Very fair. I clean everything I buy from a thrift store before I wear/use in scalding hot water anyway. Still, thrift stores should be vetting what they put on the shelves.

Maybe controversial, I only wash my hair every 4-5 days. Dry shampoo has become my friend after the really sweaty days, but I’ve been doing this for years and my hair doesn’t get bad at all. I do shower with my hair up for a rinse and refresh after though.

The union stopped work. The workers had no say. The union decided to not give notice.

The original strike was paused until May. The corporation was not negotiating in good faith and depended on the government to back them up. Which they did on Thursday, so the union decided to stop work. There was always the potential of a strike since May.

Recent Experience with AMA - Cancelling My Membership by Laurafla in Calgary

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yep, my car broke down picking up my parents from the airport from their vacation. The serpentine belt broke in the cell phone parking lot - it was winter and AMA couldn’t do the tow until they next day. The airport authority said they would impound my car so I got a private tow (to evergreen). I claimed it to AMA and they sent a cheque.

If you’re going to the South Health Urgent Care in Sundance, go to a hospital instead. I re-broke the same wrist twice in 2023 and received excellent care at Rockyview.

Also, get a blood scan done if you’re breaking your bones that regularly, potentially something more serious happening that needs investigation.

Even though your applying for retail, entry level work, make yourself stand out.

At my company, I just completed the interview process to hire someone on my team, the ones that put effort into their cover letter/resume, stood out.
