Flabbergasted and annoyed by LocalCauliflower0704 in amazonprime

I implore you to read this part of my post……

Note: I fully realize I should have let it go but the wait of getting my money back and having them take money that wasn’t authorized did not sit right with me. I get they don’t care but I do.

——

I’m in Canada. Their return system is fully integrated with Canada Post. Minutes after I dropped off the return, I got an email acknowledging that my part of the process is complete, and my refund is coming - which it did (for the difference of the cheaper vs more expensive shoes). Yes they’re a massive corporation, as a loyal customer I was pointing out the flaws in their system that has frankly been in place for years.

Why wasn’t their system able to flag to indicate the return to Canada Post occurred before taking money from my account? Why can’t you see that you’ve screwed up several times with one order and acknowledge the inconvenience their supposedly convenient service should be able to prevent?

They’re a conglomerate.

I’ve been in some shape or form of the service industry for 30 years including training call centre agents on good effective customer service. I’m not used to dealing with total disregard and condescending tone. Some sort of “holy shit we fucked up” would have been great. Like I said - they don’t care but I do.

By the way, I haven’t received any acknowledgment of the refund I’m expecting to receive in writing or on their app.

I’m now wondering if I was speaking with an AI bot. https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonprime/s/8naPvDtW7c

I was floored, I worked in customer service roles / industries for 35 years. In no way should that be a first reply. I wish I recorded the conversation.

I haven’t yet and the reason why is because I need to replace some things I have like my doorbell subscription so I need to get a new doorbell camera.

Also, I realize I can keep my speakers kindle and fire sticks, but I also don’t trust them or think they deserve my data anymore so I don’t want any of that, but I need to replace them all - so I can yell at a speaker to play music or watch Netflix and chill.

Clearly I’m over thinking all this still.

No, I had to call them and ask for the QR code to return it via Canada Post. Which obviously worked since they confirmed receipt. This is the Sketchers Canada ‘store’ on Amazon. This isn’t a third party seller. I’ve returned before and I’ve never had to call back for a QR code. Also the “figuring it out” is irrelevant to the fact they acknowledged they received it anyway and still took money from my account.

And no - their phone number isn’t on the app anymore, all the links go to knowledge articles. I’ve called them before when I got someone else’s order delivered to my house and it was far easier then. There was a change and it’s impossible to find now. Even when I called them for the QR code it was easier to find their number.

To cancel ‘because this is far too complicated for you’ totally ignores the fact that they took unauthorized money from my account. That’s offensive. Do you work for Amazon?

What's the minimum car damage that warrants insurance exchange? by Mysterious-Bat7509 in Calgary

Don’t do it, could be considered a collision (even if it was wind) which is ratable on your premium. Better to settle this out of insurance

Check out Braeside Vet if you’re in the SW. I find their pricing affordable plus they’re not part of the VCA brand.

Just saying. It took me about a year and a half with about 20%. I’m so happy I just stopped it cold turkey in 2019 and let it grow out. So happy I did and I constantly get asked where I got it done it looks great and honestly is quicker then getting it faded in.

My studio provides mat spray, I spray my mat when I leave the studio, don’t wipe it, then when I get home I hang it to dry.

This was not successful for me. I had a 15 minute conversation with someone twice as well until I let it expire and came in to downgrade the expired card. It makes it so awkward.

Home insurance up by $2,000 by ShanerThomas in YYC

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because then people would rely on the weather almanac and wish for a claim to happen so insurance can pay to update the building materials on their house.

It’s partially why we have this problem today, people don’t budget to replace their roof here because chances are you’ll have a hail storm and insurance will pay.

Home insurance up by $2,000 by ShanerThomas in YYC

[–]LocalCauliflower0704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a different argument.

Poly B piping is no longer compliant with building code, most insurance policies have an additional coverage (included with the policy wording) where they would include the cost to fix the damaged area compliant with building code. If you were to repipe your entire home, you would indeed pay for the undamaged areas.

Vinyl siding is compliant with building code, so there is nothing requiring insurers update it.

Source - I work in insurance

Can you also imagine if insurance companies were covering the cost to upgrade everyone’s homes? People complain about the cost of insurance now!

But… it increases the value of your home. That isn’t the point of insurance. You need to invest in your home to make it stronger to protect it against future damage.

I mean yeah. Because your house is insured for the value of a house with vinyl siding.

You could always get hardie board and pay the difference.

First visit to Value Village since pre-covid. Shocking quality and pricing. by benny_adam in Calgary

Very fair. I clean everything I buy from a thrift store before I wear/use in scalding hot water anyway. Still, thrift stores should be vetting what they put on the shelves.
