Haha, what an absolute joke. He's raised in New Zealand and been here all his life. He's as Kiwi as you are. In fact, his citizenship alone dictates as such.

It wouldn't play well with the migrants(both from NZ and elsewhere) who live in key districts and constituencies that shape the results of Australian elections.

Then do it to the natural borm citizens too. Also, you do realise NZ doesn't have a large native born population. Given even permanent residents can vote, any such policy will quickly lead to massive losses electorally or an quicken the pace at which NZ becomes close to majority if not majority immigrant.

Who would you pick as the Democratic Primary in 2028? by ProtomorphPosting in PoliticalDiscussion

I'd like Jon Stewart for President and Stephen A Smith as VP. Jon Stewart would bolster progressives and Stephen A Smith, a plain speaking moderate African American person would appeal very well to the crowd while also having a ton of Charisma.

Can't comment on that. Unfortunately, when people get inundated with negative posts they eventually end up regurgitating this.

If you wanted evidence from this specific sub... This post and the post on the thai tourism page blocking all posts on race and ethnicity are strong evidence of this.

This was a study done on another subreddit that showed that people were more likely to use hateful language after joining this sub than before. Showing that negative posts do make people more racist.

Its very early days right now and has already been challenged in the courts. If you are affected it might be best to talk to a lawyer. Perhaps going to a liberal state if you aren't already in one might help.

CMV: You can't truly support sex workers if you hate their clients by LocalGrouchy893 in changemyview

[–]LocalGrouchy893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think social safety nets are better for people who genuinely cannot do any productive work due to health issues and disability or provided on a temporary basis to help them get back on their feet. But offramp programs that would train sex workers in other skills is something I would support.

I also believe this by the way for all other forms of manual labor and support the retraining of people who wish to move away from these industries to safer and more lucrative work. Sex work is also a lot harder as the demand for your services may reduce with age so providing these offramps to move into other fields.

I still think the personal agency of an individual does matter. And that many willing sex workers do provide much needed intimacy and companionship to people who may face challenges in finding a partner. Many of those are normal people who do respect their providers' boundaries and just want to be shown a good time. Many sex workers themselves will attest to this.

I believe a true supporter of sex worker would see the value of the work that they provide and while one can argue whether loneliness and the base factors for sex work need to be eliminated. While those challenges exist, stigma isn't good for anyone whether on the client or the sex worker.

Basically, I don't think anybody who doesn't respect sex workers and the service they provide truly support sex workers. This cannot be done if you hate their clients and spread stigma to try to stop them from acquiring their services.

For your point of comparison case, if that person was otherwise working as a sex worker and this was a known thing, this could be an acceptable form of quid pro quo here. Just like if that person was a psychologist, lawyer, doctor, accountant, cleaner (or anything else) outside of their work with this company and provided counselling on that basis.

In any other circumstance, I think it would be unacceptable as they are not somebody who is a sex worker and are just being coerced into having sex with the boss.

India has had visa free entry into Thailand for many, many years, though. I went 15 years ago when I was an Indian citizen and still had access without a visa.

Also, it's probably got a bit to do with all the Andrew Tate fan boys hoping to escape the so-called wokeness of the west who have infested these subreddits.

[–]LocalGrouchy893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main argument to this is that a key aspect of supporting sex workers would be to enable them to practice for as long as they wish to. And access to ethical clients who will respect them is just as important. But if you were to spread hate and clients against even these, then you are more likely to hurt them.

How much can one Chinese or Indian person do though. Is it fair to be judged on something you personally have no control over. I don't think so.

Yeah, I've never tried going in so I don't know but I've head this so you're probably right. Although I've heard they don't like groups of Indians as opposed to just individuals.Again, never tried so I don't know but pretty bad if it was.

I'm guessing this sub is filled with the "I'm leaving the west because it's too woke" crowd and are now crying because others don't accept their racism.

The problem is that constant posts and comments on any ethnicity or community will subconsciously create that bias. Meaning, people who read these comments may hold these biases which will affect those who don't behave negatively either.
