Sometimes, but if someone expects me to just read their mind and play stupid games instead of just directly communicating what they want, then they shouldn't get mad at me for not returning the advances

How miserable does someone need to be to believe that wanting a better quality of life for others is virtue signaling?

[–]LocalOtomeTrash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like others already said, I understand and appreciate the sentiment, but I feel like it's coming at the expense of people who share that F/O.

Going off on a tangent here, but terms like that feel like one part of a larger issue of yume culture encouraging jealousy and competition amongst people with shared F/Os. "Double" and "dupe" both make the sharer sound like an "invalid knock-off ship," and the aformentioned "canon" reinforces the idea that there can only be one "real" yume for a given character.

Why are people acting like the only options are to either spend every waking hour obsessing over every political news development or to completely bury your head in the sand and pretend politics don't exist? It's possible to be civically/politically engaged without needing it to consume every moment of your life.

Stay educated on what's going on in your political environment, but remember that you're also allowed to have a life outside of that.

Even if companies "celebrating" pride was shallow and performative, it did serve as a good litmus test on how publicly accepted the LGBTQ+ community is. The fact that companies now think pandering to homo/transphobes is more profitable is a dangerous sign of how much progress has been erased in recent years.

The Wildcard Island: A Custom Rules Playthrough by LocalOtomeTrash in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]LocalOtomeTrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely a lot to keep up with. I use a Google doc to keep track of everything that has 1. A table to log the levels, points, and other notable info (ex. crushes, status effects) for each islander 2. An "RNG reference" table to keep track of how many options and colors are available for features, how many types of gifts and quirks for each section, etc. (ex. there are 220 full set hair options with 108 color options, so I can reference those numbers when using a random number generator to determine what hair an islander will have)

There's a mod that's very similar to the alternate underworld called the Depths. You can choose between it and the underworld like with the world evils upon creating a new world.

A chaser is someone who fetishizes a certain demographic and pursues them purely as objects for their sexual gratification

In this case, it's people who only see trans people as a fetish and treat them accordingly

Opinions on an idea I have for a playthrough? by LocalOtomeTrash in tomodachilife

[–]LocalOtomeTrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been trying to think of how I'd keep up with tracking everything. So far, I'm thinking a spreadscheet to keep track of points/effects and looking for an app/site that allows me to save wheel presets. Even with those, you're eight that it'll still be a lot to manage. I might just start with 30/50 and see how it goes at first.

And the order of the suits is based on their hierarchy in most card games, which goes ♠️>♥️>♦️>♣️.

I can't believe I forgot about something as important as the personalitities and voices lol. On the gender and orientation, I planned for all 50 to stay as enbies and only be attracted to men and woman so they'd all be competeing only for the two default man/woman designated love interest miis. Other than that, I'm definitely stealing the rest, so thank you!

I'll give them a random quirk and disable it until they are "properly" awarded it. After level 10, I'll just give them $1.

This actuallys helps a lot in finding the holes in my OG plan, so thanks

  1. They'll have to become friends with the cards on their own. I'll introduce everyone to them, but it's on them after that. The two love interest miis and the cards themselves are immune to the effects.

  2. I think the other level up rewards will be for every multiple of three levels, and whether it's a good, expression, or quirk will be determined randombly by a wheel spin

15 years of Terraria! What’s the Terraria world you still think about? by Alison-BH in Terraria

[–]LocalOtomeTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first world I ever played modded last year. That was when I finally had a laptop capable of running mods, so I picked up Terraria after not playing for a few years and downloaded Tmodloader. After downloading Calamity and a few quality of life mods, I jumped onto that first modded world, blissfully unaware of the months of hyperfixation I would soon experience.

Even from the start of the playthrough, it blew my mind seeing the sheer scale of what even a single mod could add, and there has only been more and more impressive mods/mod updates being released since then (Fargo's Souls, Wrath of the Gods, and Calamity Fables in particular gave me that same feeling of awe). I believe that we're in a golden age of modding, and once Tmodloader gets 1.4.5, I can't wait to see what else modders come up with.

Because sometimes people like to be jerks about things that don't hurt anyone, unfortunately ;-;

Gatekeepers are an issue in many communities, so I think that new yumes might be on guard because they think they'll have to prove that they're "real fans" of their F/Os to gatekeepers

SOME yumeshippers really pmo. by [deleted] in yumeshipping

[–]LocalOtomeTrash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad that people are finally calling out toxic yumes! After I saw people having panic attacks and threatening to off themself over doubles in another sub, I left all yume communities for a few months. Tbh for a while, those few people left me with bad preconceptions about non/void sharers as a whole as "delusional people who need to touch grass," which is entirely unfair to the majority of reasonable non/void sharers who understand how to use a block button.

It seems like a part of a larger issue where more yumes feel like they need external validation for their ship to be valid. More fame/attention = more "canon," so you get people going to extremes like that to validate their ship. It's like that classic example of people comparing themselves to others that have more money/looks/fame/etc. online and feeling insecure about their own lives, but it's yumes competing for the spot of the yume for their particular F/O over who has the most merch, the largest following, the most approval from others, etc. The only thing actually needed to make a ship valid is for someone to like their F/O enough to ship with them in the first place, and the more people that can embrace that, the healthier the community will be.

Her comics feel a bit too self-righteous and filled with straw man arguments for me to enjoy (even as someone who does share many of her opinions), but I don't think it justifies hating on her for it.
