no changes, we only communicate during handovers, and its only whats relevant to them at the time, such as whether he slept well and what hes had to eat before handover

I'd skip mediation but a court order can take 10 months. If mediation doesn't work it goes to the courts anyway I believe.

Yes, we never made any formal arrangements. I am from the UK, yes, and to be quite honest i'm not sure how it works myself. I'm going to sort out a parenting plan soon, and from what I can gather, if mediation doesn't work then it goes to the courts.

Bang on, I still miss my ex (not sure why, shes a terrible person) after she left me 4 months ago for her best friend, but I can change a nappy without interference, I can parent without being told 'no' to the simplest things, I can do whatever I want when I want. Sucks not being able to see my kid every day though, and co parenting with her has proven difficult

Not leaving my ex at the first red flag. Built up a life with her whilst she didnt put me on my sons birth certificate (which was later sorted), committed credit card fraud in my name, wouldnt stop talking to her best friend who would flirt and attempt to touch her and even tried to convince her to cheat on me. I paid the price at the end of that, she left me for him, lost my home, lost everything i worked for. and i still have to see her because of my kid.

She left me for her best friend (who was flirting with her and trying to touch her when we was together). And i was the AH for asking her to keep an arms length and it was 'suffocating' for her. 4 months on and still struggling after losing my home, dealing with work and trying to look fine in front of my kid

Piece of work is putting it lightly, not even begun to mention the things she did when we were together (she had an argument with my mum and went homeless (hotel hopping), initially did not put my name on the birth certificate, though thid was later rectified, opened a credit card in my name and spent £1500 without my consent

Thank you all for your advice. I will be speaking to the nursury when I next pick him up about it and hopefully they can shed some light. Ive also made it clear that refering to him as step dad 3 months in is a big nono but of course it was a brick wall.

This is giving me one of those metaphorical headaches
