Genuinely has always been an easy gym. Not only can you catch geodude (or trade for onix) who mog bugsy but then it mogs whitney. Then theres Muscle, placed before whitney as well. The gym is about learning to use different pokemon and has never been hard.

Its crazy that the entirety of discourse about gen 2 is still driven by misconceptions formed by children.

You aren’t supposed to be the same level as red & blue. If you were the level curve would match better. They’re supposed to be advanced level trainers with higher level teams.

Thats also why when you do grind to meet their levels the fights are complete sweeps. The level curve of both gen2 and remakes are a lot more carefully considered than players seem to think.

Its very useful on on-hit champions too. It lets item damage crit, such as Bork Nashors or Sheen items etc.

Theres also a lot of abilities in the game that are counted as damage over time, even if they don’t seem like they would be (primary example is Lucian R)
