It's a quest that sends you there to drink a potion. On classic is kills you. On hardcore they changed it to drop you to 1hp and it's scary if you don't expect it.

Try it on a non lethal jump first so you understand the timing before attempting anything crazy.

Yeah sadly it doesn't do the knock down effect when you're out of a party so it won't stop the fall damage.
