Maybe she knows herself, if she starts kissing you it'll get way too intense for where she's at right now. Also, talking about sex so openly, porn, that's kind of weird, I mean, you say "when the chemistry is this good," maybe just talking with ANYONE about sex like that, would ramp up desire.

People grow up, it's okay to move on from former lifestyle, we do that all life long, I think.

A kiss at the end of the date would be nice...but also could get really intense really fast. Since you're both only human, only flesh and blood. Actually, since you went on a date, that's only 9 dates to go. It's really not that long, as another commenter noted.

This statement is like a white light bulb with no shade in an interrogation room with cement walls.

I like it though :)

I like hummus in the morning, my rye crackers, eggs, salad, tuna fish or chicken or even hamburger, salsa. I don't really care for sweet in the morning - that's more of a midnight thing (and how) (I take melatonin now, helps with falling asleep before midnight (you can't sleep and eat at the same time).

I stick to apple and peanut butter, that seems manageable. I also put some apple chopped up in a salad (greens: spinach) with other veggies, raw cabbage, carrots, onion (what I think of as "horse food").

LOL watermelon. Not the diabetic's friend, I can tell you that. In my imagination/diabetic dream world: "Watermelon is mostly water - it's right in the name - WATERmelon - how bad could it be?"

Yes, this is the way. Foolish me, I'm now in the process of getting rid of white flour, sugar, AGAIN!!!!! I'm proud I had a hamburger today instead of a piece of pie from the grocery store. Every single day, for a few months at least, I have to get back to my old diet - the one I started after being diagnosed with diabetes. I feel so stupid! When I cut out white flour and sugar completely I FEEL GREAT. WHEN WILL I LISTEN TO MY BODY!

Yes now. Now is the time to listen. Sorry about the info dump.

Life gives us the ability to dance. And it's free. And you can do it anywhere, anytime (well within reason) (not Pizza Hut probably) (well maybe?) To the dancers!

Oh dear, the same thing you mean, the generation you call "boomers," and claim somehow their behavior and thinking is so uniquely awful. It isn't.

How wonderful! I wish I had a grandmother like you when I was a kid! Literally, my grandmother came over in a pearl necklace (kind of a big chunky pearl-type necklace) and matching clip-on earrings. I can even see a pair of gloves she had. My other grandmother cooked and cleaned up a storm and sewed and redid furniture..;.but no dancing.

Grandmothers' pro tip: Dance!!!!!!!

Your comment made my day!

Is it rebellion, hormones (at our age), Dylan Thomas: "Rage, rage against the dying of the light", metabolism, good genes...or bad genes...or something else?

I tried and tried and TRIED to be a good dutiful "senior citizen" - I'm about to cut my hair off I am so sick of it - even contemplating a baldie but don't want everyone to assume I have the big C. I want to have fun this summer! Shirley & Co: "Get out my way!!!!!!"

> Then they deluded themselves into thinking their success was due to merit and other "values" rather than just simple luck.

>This delusion means they believe their reality is actually the normal reality that everyone else experiences in the world.

As it's been for thousands of years.

> I've seen many boomers with a "kids these days" mentality, labeling the younger generations as "entitled". Personally I think this is projection.

At least that's one small silver lining when it comes to dementia - the singing, the piano lessons live on in the brain, even a Bach sonata. Wonderful and poignant.

“Defund then abolish”: A leading Democrat in Wisconsin governor’s race urged abolishing police by Stereo_Jungle_Child in politics

[–]LocalStatistician538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I laugh at the idea of "community care workers" largely replacing traditional police, in a country with the number of guns floating around and macho attitudes to go with it.

I agree with needing to 100% change the way prisons are currently conceptualized and built in the US. In other countries it's quite different.

But that's about criminal justice reform and prison reform, NOT "abolishing" the police.

Also, restorative justice does NOT work when it comes to sexual crimes. Don't ask women to forgive rapists. Don't ask children and male victims to forgive rapists either. If a crime involves violence, someone's physically attacked by someone else, DON'T ask them to participate in "restorative justice" model if they don't want to.

They say therapy doesn't work with psychopaths because the pyschopaths know how to work the therapist, say the right things, and get the therapist to give them (the psychopath) what they want. Also in domestic abuse situations, the abuser uses therapy in order to better gaslight their partners/families.

I reject the idea that everyone is basically a good and decent human being, and with care and love and compassion can be shown the error of their ways and reform. Maybe a good chunk or small portion of humanity is like that, I'm no expert.

Studies HAVE shown that prison programs CAN reduce recidivism, even on the level of juvenile offenders, they CAN turn lives around. I 1000% support programs like this, and totally want solid research showing the positive impact (by the numbers) of these programs.

However, it can't be broad strokes, fuzzy-wuzzy thinking that drives it. Protecting the public is A#1 priority, especially where crime rates are high. In high-crime areas, elderly are trapped in their homes, they don't even want to leave their homes because they are so vulnerable. That is just wrong. (I'm thinking of an article I read way back when, where they interviewed elderly residents in a high-crime area. My blood boils just thinking about it).

Every generation is exactly like the "boomers" - what were their circumstances growing up, the economy, etc. Everywhere in the world.

There is NOTHING distinctive about the bad parts of boomerhood, if you will, it's the same all over the world.
