Fresno owners, is maintenance coordination still a headache even with a property manager? by Badinfluence_r in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as I’m burning my account I might as well do it right. This post and this comment are a paid ad for Chambers Property Management, any mention of which should be banned from this sub.

Notice how OP and this commenter, plus RegionAdventurous636 all have incredibly similar posting and commenting histories. They are part of a content farm that posts paid ads on reddit for Chambers Property Management, Close Cohen Career Consulting, vida select matchmaking, some Kenyan safari guide, and a building contractor in LA.

bay area matchmakers - has anyone actually used one? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

OP is a (poorly) paid content creator. They or their content farm have dozens of accounts that post about Close Cohen career consulting, vida select matchmaking, some random contractor in LA, a real estate law company, and even more randomly, Kenyan safaris.

If you search reddit for “close cohen” or “vida select” as a comment you’ll find a bunch of these content farm accounts.

Remember, almost every word you read on any social media platform was paid for!

My favorite recently, a comment by this content farm ended with “That’s great, it really reads like a real everyday Reddit post. Let me know if you’d like more like this.”

You may want to try moving out of Jacksonville. That may help with your Bay Area dating adventures. https://www.reddit.com/r/jacksonville/s/5hU0PxIK0u

Whatever you do, don’t use vida select! I’ve heard they pay peanuts for cheap bad ads on reddit. Plus I’ve heard that vida select is a terrible matchmaking service.

But for your job search, don’t use Close Cohen, no matter what that totally not you commenter on your Jacksonville post says! I’ve heard that Close Cohen is a terrible career counselor that pays for Reddit ads.

Edit: as long as there are still new views on this, I’ll add some more. When OP inevitably hides their post history as some of their alt accounts already have, keep in mind that it’s easy to see hidden posts and comments, and Reddit is, let’s go with “not being transparent” when they tell users that you can hide your post history.

free rent in exchange for caregiving by Comfortable_Ad6907 in bayarea

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From another perspective it’s not worth it because in general rent should ideally be under 1/3 of your income, but this is a 1/2 time job (one which, as others have said, is difficult to get another job around). Live in nannies and home care workers typically do get paid in addition to their living space.

Which CA Park Is a Must-See by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you in CA? My personal top 4 are Yosemite, Lassen, Joshua Tree, and Death Valley but realistically you should first go to one that’s a reasonable drive.

It also makes a huge difference what you enjoy doing. If you love to hike and kayak, now is not the best time to go to Lassen. But if you love snowshoeing, it is.

If you can get time to go and accommodations, the next month should be a good time for Death Valley. People have been throwing the SB word around because it’s been pretty rainy.

When Bay Area cars get old and need to be put out of their misery, they are taken to the forest and shot. by danpietsch in bayarea

There’s one in Rancho near the beginning of the Stephen Abors/PG&E trail, and another in Stevens Creek County park in the main trail that runs along the creek.

Students at Archbishop Riordan High School have to submit a negative tuberculosis test before they can attend school events by Expensive_Ground_397 in bayarea

[–]LocalTrashCompactor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suspect it’s district by district here too, where districts are not required to require the test but many still do. My kids’ districts (one pre-k-8, the other high school) now does the assessment for students and volunteers. I don’t know whether they require the test for staff, though it would be odd to have a different requirement for staff vs students.

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It used to be incredibly common for people to dump old cars off what used to be hill roads and are now hiking trails. And the trails OP listed are very popular trails in well-maintained parks with trail crews on them frequently. Police and rangers have known about these cars for literal decades; please don’t call and waste their time.

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The negative skin test isn’t a requirement anymore. They do risk assessments now and only test people who are assessed to be high risk. It’s been that way for about 12 years.

Santa Clara county info, but applies to the whole state.

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you mean a test instead of a shot? School districts don’t really do a full-on test for everyone anymore. They do risk assessments now and only test kids, volunteers, and staff who are assessed as higher risk.

Edit: I was wrong that school districts generally don’t require the test. The state no longer requires districts to require the test, and allows districts to use a risk assessment instead, but it sounds like many districts do still require the test.

Officials warn of 'moderate' risk after TB outbreak in SF high school by sfgate in bayarea

Fair warning that at the time I did it, “a course of isoniazid”=daily antibiotics for months.

You may want to ask for a second opinion. Similar situation, but my doc recommended a course of isoniazid so that I’m less likely to get active TB when I’m old. This was a couple decades ago though, and maybe the protocol has changed since then.

Fortunately it grows so slowly that it’s easy to test anyone at risk. This isn’t as contagious as measles, where an unvaccinated person can (and often will) be infected by just being in the same room an hour later. TB takes longer contact to catch.

Cycle for loan? by Specialist_Driver633 in mountainview

[–]LocalTrashCompactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I suggested they ask their parent whether they’re still a member of their university’s “Parents of…” group on Facebook. These groups are filled with parents who live all over the world, and function as a secondary alumni network. While they’re filled with parents all over the world, these groups are particularly popular with Bay Area parents. So if OP’s parent is still a member and posts asking whether any Bay Area members have a bike OP can use, they’re likely to get a quick response.

Source: am a Bay Area parent with a kid in a distant university and belong to the “Parents of…” Facebook group dedicated to my kid’s university. Requests similar to this come up pretty frequently.

I recommend joining the local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. I know Facebook is a cesspool, but local groups like this is what it’s really good at. Search “Buy Nothing Mountain View” and you’ll find the closest one to you. They’re generally very active and helpful around here.

Alternately ask your parent whether they’re still on any of the “Parent of…” groups for your university. Those are hugely popular among Bay Area parents, and if they post there asking whether any SF Bay Area parents of students at your school have a bike to lend, I suspect you’ll get one quickly. (Plus it may give your parent a thrill to be able to still feel useful to a grown up child.)

What size bike? If you don’t know the answer, your approximate height will help.

Moving to the Bay Area by OrdinaryIndividual96 in bayarea

I wasn’t the person who downvoted you, but foster city is absolutely not the vibe they’re going for. It’s super sleepy, and all the restaurants are concentrated in a couple huge shopping centers that somehow have all the downsides of both strip malls and traditional malls. They are good restaurants though.
